Job Description

Title : Analyst – Transaction Monitoring and Sanctions screening Location: Mexico City. This position requires full presence at office in Insurgentes Sur.As an Analyst , you will support AML/CFT compliance by conducting moderately complex transaction monitoring investigations, ongoing customer reviews, and suspicious activity analysis. You will independently analyze alerts, assess risks, and document investigations in line with regulatory and client requirements.You will apply your expertise in transaction analysis and investigation to identify questionable transactions, patterns and behaviors of customers or relevant parties and prepare the appropriate report and recommendation for further action in compliance with regulatory requirements.In this role, you will independently review and analyze sanctions and internal watchlist alerts by examining transactions and KYC information. You will disposition alerts, escalate potential matches, prepare reports, and—when assigned—provide oversight to associate analysts to ensure SLA and compliance adherence.The analyst works closely with senior analysts, compliance managers, and cross-functional teams to maintain a strong compliance framework and adapt to the evolving regulatory landscape.Mandatory:• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business, Finance, Economics, or related field.• Minimum of 2 years of experience in compliance, due diligence, AML, KYC, Sanctions, transaction monitoring, investigative functions or other related services performing AML/CFT and/or financial crimes investigation-related roles or tasks.• Strong understanding of AML laws, regulations, and best practices, and has sufficient level of familiarity with the different AML typologies.•Technologically proficient in using AML monitoring systems and related software and has analytical and investigative skills• Ability to independently disposition alerts and identify potential matches• Strong experience reviewing transactions and KYC data for sanctions alerts• Strong understanding of Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) controls and regulatory requirements.• Exposure to global sanctions regimes (OFAC, UN, EU, internal lists)• Good understanding of sanctions regulations and internal watchlists• Ability to perform moderately complex research and risk assessments• Ability to perform both quantitative and qualitative analysis on large datasets to identify anomalies, patterns and risks is critical• Demonstrated sound judgment and the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders across business lines.• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and solid organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.• Known for integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality, proactive, capable of working independently, and thrive in team environments.• Strong time-management skills so tasks can be prioritized effectively under pressure to meet strict deadlines/SLAs• Fluent English and SpanishNice to Have:• Professional certifications such as ACAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist), CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner), or other relevant compliance certifications are a plus.• Exposure to TM tools and monitoring systems such as Fiserv, Feedzai and Fenergo• Exposure to SAR/STR drafting support (as applicable)• Experience handling escalations from JL2 analysts• Understanding of regulatory expectations and audit readiness• Ability to manage workload independently with minimal supervision• Prior experience supporting team leads or supervising analysts• Audit or QA exposure in sanctions operations Key Responsibilities:• Support and participate in the ongoing review of existing customers to ensure adherence to AML/CFT requirements• Perform moderately complex research and assessment of risk factors• Conduct AML suspicious activity monitoring and analysis on transactions generated by AML and terrorist financing typologies and rules• Analyze customer relationships, documentation, activity patterns, and transactions to identify potential red flags and/or suspicious activity• Document review and investigation processes followed, including preparation of reports, supporting documents, and system entries• Escalate cases that meet or exceed defined thresholds in accordance with procedures• Ensure compliance with quality standards, SLAs, and regulatory guidelines• Review and analyze transactions and KYC information of transacting parties and disposition triggered alerts related to potential sanctions or internal watchlist matches• Identify potential matches or issues and escalate alerts to the designated party or unit in accordance with established procedures• Escalate sanctions screening true matches or unresolved cases to MLRO and compliance officers for further investigation.• Manage alerts and cases within the compliance systems, ensuring timely resolution and escalation where necessary.• Support investigations into suspicious activities, potential breaches, and complex transactions, ensuring timely and accurate documentation.• Perform independent analysis to support accurate alert disposition and investigation outcomes• When required, prepare reports and summaries for relevant stakeholders related to analysis or investigations performed• If assigned to lead or supervise associate analysts, monitor performance and compliance with agreed SLAs and established procedures/rules• Ensure accurate documentation and audit ready records• Support the delivery of training programs to enhance compliance awareness across the organization.
