Your work shapes the world by creating better solutions with our customers and partners.Career Area ManufacturingRole Definition The Manufacturing Engineer for New Product Introduction (NPI) ensures the successful launch of new products by developing and validating manufacturing processes, tooling, and documentation before production begins. This role bridges design and manufacturing to guarantee that new products meet quality, cost, delivery, safety, and regulatory standards.ResponsibilitiesParticipate in CPPD and design reviews to influence product design for manufacturability.Conduct feasibility studies for components and assemblies across welding, painting, and assembly processes.Create and validate process flow documentation (PFMEA, SFMEA, DF, CP, IPV, ETC).Develop standard work instructions (SWS/SWES) and visual aids for operators.Define tooling and equipment requirements for new product lines.Guarantee adherence to APQP and PPAP requirements.Work with supply chain, logistics, and packaging teams to ensure smooth transition.Close NPI issues with clear risk assessments before production commitment.Degree RequirementBachelor's degree in a related field required, or currently in the last semester of college.Intermediate English level desirable.Skill Descriptors Decision Making and Critical ThinkingUses an assigned critical thinking method during decision‑making.Gathers, organizes, and structures relevant data and ideas.Contributes to documenting information, concepts, participants, stakeholders, and workflows.Identifies, clarifies, and prioritizes issues.Supports the evaluation of risks, benefits, and alternative options.Lean ManufacturingProvides examples of the advantages and potential challenges of adopting lean principles.Explains fundamental tools used to observe processes and detect waste.Shares industry or organizational cases of successful and unsuccessful lean implementations.Identifies core lean principles and key aspects of the lean manufacturing methodology.Manufacturing ProcessesCapable to read and interpret assembly drawings.Experience in creating assembly procedures and training operators.Ability to conduct timing analysis and create assembly routings.Problem Management Process – MFGExplains the overall workflow of problem management from start to finish.Gives examples of well‑written and poorly written problem reports.Identifies common types of problems typically addressed in a manufacturing environment.Finds information on essential practices, policies, and procedures related to problem management.Additional InformationLocation: Santa Catarina, Nuevo León.Travel requirement: up to 10% domestic and international.Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 6:30 am – 5:00 pm.Relocation is not available for this position.Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.The position requires working onsite five days a week.Caterpillar is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
