The opportunity We are looking for a skilled and motivated Mechanical Designer to join our MEP team in Hermosillo. You will work alongside licensed engineers on complex, multi-discipline building projects — designing HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems that perform reliably and efficiently. This role offers direct exposure to U.S. project standards, international best practices, and a clear path toward becoming a senior engineer or project lead. What you will do - Design HVAC systems including air handling units, fan coil units, VAV systems, exhaust systems, and ductwork distribution for commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings - Design plumbing systems including domestic hot and cold water, sanitary drainage, stormwater, and specialty piping for various occupancy types - Develop full construction document packages in Revit MEP and AutoCAD, including mechanical plans, equipment schedules, riser diagrams, and details - Perform heating and cooling load calculations using HAP, Trace 700, or equivalent software - Size and select mechanical equipment including chillers, boilers, cooling towers, pumps, and air handling units - Coordinate with electrical, plumbing, structural, and architectural disciplines throughout the design and construction phases - Ensure designs comply with ASHRAE standards, IMC, IPC, NOM, and applicable local codes for projects in Mexico and the United States - Participate in design reviews, client coordination meetings, and construction administration (RFIs, submittals, shop drawing reviews) - Collaborate with engineers at the U.S. headquarters and contribute to cross-border project delivery What we are looking for - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or a closely related field - 3–8 years of experience in mechanical design within an MEP consulting or engineering firm - Proficiency in Revit MEP and/or AutoCAD; BIM 360 coordination experience is a plus - Experience with load calculation software: HAP, Trace 700, or equivalent - Knowledge of ASHRAE standards, IMC, IPC, and/or NOM mechanical codes - Understanding of HVAC system types, equipment selection, psychrometrics, and duct/pipe sizing principles - Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple active projects simultaneously - Bilingual (Spanish / English) — strong English reading and writing skills required for U.S. project coordination
