Job Description

We are seeking a results-driven Agile Product Owner with bioinformatics domain knowledge (MUST HAVE), and a passion for life sciences, bioinformatics, and software development to join our multidisciplinary team.The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between scientific domain experts, software engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver robust, scalable, and reproducible bioinformatics pipeline solutions supporting clinical diagnostics testing at ITJ. This individual will play a critical role in defining product requirements, refining backlogs, and ensuring the development of features that enable robust, scalable, cost-effective, and clinical-grade genomic and biomedical data analysis pipelines.Key Responsibilities Act as the primary liaison between the research bioinformatics, software engineering, Quality Assurance, and DevOps teams.Translate complex scientific and analytical requirements into clear, actionable user stories and prioritized product backlogs.Own and manage the product backlog; ensure stories are well-defined, properly prioritized, and aligned with stakeholder goals.Define and communicate the product vision and roadmap, ensuring alignment with scientific goals and organizational priorities.Lead Agile Scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog grooming, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.Partner with engineering and QA leads to ensure delivered features meet functional and performance expectations, including for scientific reproducibility and data traceability.Continuously gather feedback from users and stakeholders to iterate on features and workflows.Maintain documentation related to pipeline functionality, release notes, and scientific validations as needed.Track and report progress using metrics and tools like Jira, Confluence, or equivalent Agile management systems. Qualifications Required: Bachelor's degree or higher in bioinformatics, computational biology, Bioengineering, or other life science-related field.3-5 years of experience as a Product Owner or similar role in an Agile/Scrum environment in a life science-related field.Strong understanding of the bioinformatics domain, particularly related to NGS (Next Generation Sequencing) data analysis pipelines.Experience working within Agile development teams using tools like Jira, Git, and Confluence.Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration skills. Preferred: Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in a relevant scientific or technical discipline.Experience with cloud-based pipeline development in AWS Health OmicsFamiliarity with Python, Nextflow, Snakemake, CWL, or WDL is a plus.Understanding of regulatory/compliance (e.g., CLIA/CAP, ISO13485, IEC62304) in the bioinformatics context is a plus.Product Owner certification (e.g., CSPO, SAFe PO/PM) is a plus.
