Job Description

The Inventory & Control Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring accurate, efficient, and compliant inventory management practices across AMVAC Mexico. This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of physical inventory processes, system controls, and inventory valuation. The ideal candidate will serve as the subject matter expert (SME) on inventory for the region, driving compliance, reporting accuracy, and process efficiencies.The role requires strong cross-functional collaboration, particularly with Supply Chain, Finance, Sales, and Warehouse teams, to ensure seamless inventory operations. This position reports directly to the Director of Finance for the Mexico Region and is expected to maintain a high level of integrity, attention to detail, and commitment to continuous improvement.Key ResponsibilitiesInventory Management & Physical CountsPlan and coordinate monthly physical inventory counts across all AMVAC Mexico sites (e.g., distribution centers, warehouses).Execute full physical inventory counts (wall-to-wall), ensuring compliance with internal policies.Investigate and reconcile inventory discrepancies, ensuring timely and accurate resolution.Monitor inventory rotation and condition; escalate quality or obsolescence concerns.Ensure inventory reserves (e.g., for obsolescence or damage) are accurately calculated and system-reconciled.Inventory Controls & ComplianceMaintain effective internal controls to mitigate operational risks and ensure inventory integrity.Ensure all inventory practices are aligned with company policies, financial controls, and regulatory requirements.Perform periodic audits to verify inventory accuracy and support SOX compliance where applicable.Oversee processes related to inventory write-offs and destruction, ensuring compliance with environmental and quality standards.Data Management & ReportingMaintain accurate records of inventory balances, transactions, and cost valuation.Prepare and deliver regular inventory and cost-related reports for management review.Support month-end and year-end close processes through inventory analysis and reconciliations.Assist Accounting with general ledger reconciliations related to inventory and cost of goods sold (COGS).Cross-functional CoordinationCollaborate with Supply Chain, Sales, Warehouse, and Finance teams to support effective inventory planning and execution.Communicate with suppliers and third parties to resolve inventory-related issues and ensure timely deliveries.Act as a liaison during internal and external audits related to inventory and cost controls.Qualifications & RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in inventory control and management roles.Advanced proficiency in Excel and experience with ERP systems such as QAD, SAP, or Oracle.Strong analytical, organizational, and documentation skills.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and regions.Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Experience with compliance, internal audits, and continuous improvement initiatives preferred.Organizational ScopeInterfaces with all functional levels across the organization, including cross-border teams.Works with external auditors, vendors, and government authorities as needed.No direct supervisory responsibilities, but expected to lead and influence best practices across sites.RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related fieldMinimum of 5 years of experience in inventory control, oversight, and managementStrong analytical and reporting skillsExperience using QAD ERP systems and advanced proficiency in Microsoft ExcelExcellent organizational, planning, and time-management abilitiesDemonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environmentStrong communication and interpersonal relationship skillsHigh attention to detail and excellent documentation managementProven experience identifying and mitigating operational risks through effective controlsProficient in English
