The Role Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Mexico, the General Manager, Operations, will lead safe and efficient operations at the Morelos Complex, primarily at Media Luna. You will oversee Mining, Plant, Maintenance, Technical Services, and Planning, driving integration, cost performance, and a strong safety culture to consistently meet or exceed production targets. The Company Torex Gold is an intermediate gold producer based in Canada, engaged in the exploration, development, and operation of its 100% owned Morelos Property, an area of 29,000 hectares in the highly prospective Guerrero Gold Belt located 180 kilometres southwest of Mexico City. The Company's principal asset is the Morelos Complex, which includes the El Limón Guajes ("ELG") Mine Complex, the Media Luna Mine, the EPO Project, a processing plant, and related infrastructure. Production from the Morelos Complex commenced in 2016, and an updated Technical Report for the Morelos Complex was released in March 2022. Torex's key strategic objectives are: Deliver Media Luna to full production and build EPO; optimize Morelos production and costs; grow reserves and resources; disciplined growth and capital allocation; retain and attract best industry talent; and industry leader in responsible mining. What We're Looking for: Education Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering, Metallurgy, Geology, Civil, or Industrial Engineering. A Master’s or Postgraduate Degree in Operations Management, Mining Management, Project Management, or Construction is strongly preferred. Experience Minimum of 15 years of progressive operational mining experience in Mexico or Latin America, including leadership of large, multidisciplinary teams across multiple site functions. At least 5 years in a senior operational leadership role, such as Manager of Operations or Technical Services, with demonstrated success in delivering safe, cost-effective production. Proven experience in developing and standardizing internal processes and systems to drive operational excellence. Extensive background in medium- and long-term mine planning, resource management, and production forecasting. Strong financial acumen with experience in strategic planning, budget management, and balancing operational costs with production goals. Track record of implementing and sustaining a strong safety culture in line with industry best practices. Demonstrated ability to lead organizational change, implement new corporate standards, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Skills Advanced proficiency in Spanish and English, both written and verbal. Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to inspire and develop high-performing teams at all levels of the organization. Excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective cross-functional relationships. Highly analytical and data-driven, with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to use operational KPIs and dashboards to guide decisions. Strong decision-making skills with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset. Responsibilities Safety, Health, and Environment Creates a culture that values safety and compliance with the 4-Phase Safety System. Monitors the implementation of the SafeStart program and addresses gaps and risks. Oversees and monitors compliance with environmental laws and current environmental impact and land-use change authorizations. Oversees and monitors the effective implementation and compliance with the International Cyanide Code. Strategy and Financial Management Works with corporate departments to define and prioritize site strategic objectives. Develops department objectives encompassing the Plant, Technical Services, Mines, Production Planning, and Process Improvement departments, ensuring overall outcomes of objectives support the achievement of the site’s overall strategic objectives. Manages the overall timing and delivery of objectives within the Operations departments. Manages financial implications of mining results by balancing finances between Plant, Technical Services, Mines, and Process Improvement departments. Manages overall financial results by balancing finances between Plant, Technical Services, Mines, Maintenance, Production Planning, and Surface Operation departments Makes prudent decisions regarding expenditures that effectively balance costs and impact overall financial results. Operations and Resource Management Accountable for the management of the Morelos property’s operations and mine planning. Accountable for the overall management and achievement of operational plans within Plant, Technical Services, Mines, Production Planning, and Maintenance departments. Manages overall site production expectations, ensuring results meet requirements within the LOM plan. Approves mine plans and resource model developed by the MTS team, ensuring the plans are developed following the guidance provided. Reviews and validates Plant production and maintenance plans. Analyzes underlying problems to determine if there are systemic issues with existing systems that are impacting operations. Ensures compliance with organizational regulations and standards. Leads the coordination and communication between operations and support departments such as HR, Finance, and IT to ensure organizational objectives are well understood and supported. Monitors results and determines areas of focus that require investigation of root cause analysis; oversees the implementation of improvements. Uses a data-informed approach to lead efforts to improve productivity and identify deviations as opportunities to implement BPF for overall improved operations. Develops a dashboard of KPIs to manage mining productivity, capacity, assets, and efficiency. Contributes to and implements new corporate standards, systems, and policies. Leads the development of quarterly operations reports for SVP review. Makes recommendations on the reallocation of resources across areas of functional accountability to improve overall results and performance of teams. Systems and Relationships Identifies the need for new systems required to enhance production. Contributes to the development of new systems in the area of responsibility. Culture and Leadership Leads Torex’s culture by understanding the interrelatedness of systems, symbols, and behaviours, selecting from these tools to create positive mythologies that support desired culture (e.g., Safety, productivity, performance) Accountable for ensuring the smooth running of the 3-tier management system.
