Role Summary: The Mechanical Engineer II plays a vital role in applying engineering principles and practices to resolve medium-complexity sustaining issues. This position focuses on electro-mechanical system design, requiring knowledge of power transmission principles, material strengths, statics, dynamics, and material science. Create mechanical designs that meet product requirements documents (PRDs) and translate these requirements into working drawings and specifications. Select materials and manufacturing processes to produce parts with high quality and competitive costs. Enter bill of materials into SAP by releasing Engineering Change Notices in Windchill. Identify key characteristics in print and specifications to ensure product performance and assembly process consistency. Create part designs according to manufacturing standards, including plastic part design, sheet metal, and machining guidelines. Participate in tool design processes to ensure optimal tooling/part design. Create prototypes, mockups, or representations to illustrate concepts and ideas. Develop engineering validation test plans using tools like FMEA, FEA, tolerance stack-up analysis, and statistical analysis. Collaborate on validation plan execution and resolve arising opportunities. Lead or support productivity projects through concept, critical, and final design reviews. Propose solutions to product performance issues related to design, customer complaints, and product life cycle. Support potential line-down events, including continuity of supply issues, assembly problems, and quality problems. Maintain reliable communication and documentation for sourcing, purchasing, inspection, manufacturing, and testing activities. Adhere to APQP disciplines to ensure a robust part approval process.
