In this role, you’ll be focused on maintaining and optimizing Mary Kay’s multi-platform database infrastructure, ensuring performance, security, and cost-efficiency across cloud environments. The position is designed to evolve into a technical leadership and data strategy role, offering long-term growth and impact. Responsibilities—what you'll do: Manage and optimize databases across platforms including SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB. Monitor database performance and proactively identify and resolve availability and performance bottlenecks. Leverage in-depth knowledge of Database Engines to analyze, optimize, and enhance Database Server workloads to ensure optimal performance and efficiency. Utilize advanced techniques to optimize SQL queries, including index tuning, query plan analysis, and performance troubleshooting. Lead performance tuning, right sizing, and proactive troubleshooting. Framework Development: Develop frameworks and tools to identify performance bottlenecks and optimize SQL Server and Oracle queries. Collaborate with multiple teams to implement and standardize the best practices for performance enhancement. Evaluate the database environment, report on infrastructure consumption, and provide suggestions for improving the environment and reducing costs. Ensure security, compliance, and standardization across all database systems. Drive cloud cost optimization initiatives and infrastructure efficiency. Collaborate with global application owners and development teams to resolve performance bottlenecks. Provide technical consulting for global projects and cloud-native technology adoption. Own and evolve the architecture of cloud databases and storage, including Azure Files. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field Minimum of 7–10 years of hands-on experience in database administration, Performance troubleshooting. Proven experience managing and optimizing databases across multiple platforms: SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB. In-depth understanding of database internals, with a strong ability to diagnose and resolve complex performance issues. Proven experience in database performance troubleshooting and collaboration with developers for process improvements. In-depth understanding with hands on experience with high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions. Thorough understanding on how database engine work with server, storage and network components Maintain a deep understanding of SQL Server and Oracle database engines, features and apply them effectively to the environment. Deep knowledge of cloud architecture and infrastructure and cloud database services, particularly AWS, OCI and Microsoft Azure. Experience with cloud cost optimization, storage architecture, and cloud-native design patterns. Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code and automation tools (e.g., Terraform, PowerShell, Azure CLI). Demonstrated ability to implement and maintain database security, compliance standards, and governance frameworks. Experience with auditing, encryption, role-based access control, and data masking. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across global teams, including application owners and developers. Experience in technical consulting, stakeholder engagement, and translating business needs into technical solutions. Preferred Certifications AWS certified Solutions Architect – Associate Microsoft SQL Server professional Certificate Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or Azure Solutions Architect Expert. Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), PostgreSQL Certified Professional, or equivalent.
