First Brands Group is hiring for a Packaging Manager for our engineering division for our office in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua This role, reporting to the Director of Packaging, will be primarily focused on leading the end-to-end product development process, overseeing market research, technical and functional development, regulatory compliance, and process launch. The role act as a key technical support person to ensure the success delivery of projects/programs from concept through commercialization. The scope of work is related, but not limited to packaging design & innovation, cost savings, brand maintenance and/or customer requests, Business continuity plans and packaging materials supplier´s quality support. The role will serve and be viewed as a technical leader, with emphasis on holistic package development practices within the department. The individual will be expected to accomplish objectives through their individual contributions, their direct reports as well as indirect reporting relationships/teams across the Region. Responsibilities Project Leadership: Ensures project planning and management skills for streamlined execution of the team by effectively prioritizing responsibilities to ensure excellence in project completion. Successfully manage and deliver against performance metrics by working through the direct reporting team, as well as cross-functional partners in the packaging value chain Lead the technical aspect of product development, optimizing, functionality and transportation. Approval of packaging material specification. Develop and implement robust processes for product scale-up, facilitating a smooth transition from development to manufacturing. Establish relationships with suppliers to access high-quality and innovative packaging materials, technologies, and designs. Support and drive the change in behavior across packaging engineers and stakeholders in the business units to ensure standardization and to continuously improve the performance of the packaging department through the transparency of analytics and highlight of opportunities for improvement. Responsible for understanding and interpreting customer/business requirements to work in partnership with customers/business towards derived solutions and leveraging existing solutions. Provide technical support to First brands packaging production plants and Manufacturing Operations Ensure the team has an S&SP (Safety & Security Plan) and their skills are developed. When necessary, conduct root cause analysis, troubleshooting technical issues and performance challenges. Perform training gap analysis and creating training plans to address the identified gaps Excellent negotiation and people skills, with a strong ability to manage difficult conversations. Managing relationships and expectations with internal stakeholders to maximize delivered value. Challenging the status quo within business processes to identify better ways of working to drive value creation. Perform post-implementation reviews to ensure lesson-learned sharing for future improvement projects Leading and mentoring process improvement projects (Lean/Kaizen, SixSigma) Basic Requirements Bachelor's degree is required. (Packaging or Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred) Full-English professional proficiency. Proven managerial experience is a must. At least 7 years of experience in similar roles, preferably in the automotive or food industry. Experienced in people management with strong interpersonal skills and experience managing and developing teams. You are technically and analytically savvy, with knowledge of Packaging Engineering and packaging development. You have a proven track record as a strong communicator, influencer, and cross-functional partner. Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while maintaining attention to detail and ensuring high-quality deliverables.
