Job Description

**Job Summary** This role is for a skilled Toolmaker who will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks in the machining shop. These tasks include handling and operating machine tools, as well as providing technical knowledge to support the goals of the supply chain. As a Toolmaker, you will be expected to provide service and repair to tooling, including disassembly, cleaning, lubrication, and re-assembly. You will also be responsible for setting up and/or installing molds or molding components at the start of production. The ideal candidate will have experience in preventive/corrective maintenance processes of plastic injection molds, extrusion dies, plastic blow cavities, or other tools related to the production of medical components. Key responsibilities include: Providing service and repair to tooling Setting up and/or installing molds or molding components Addressing press stoppage problems to identify causes and resolve machine problems Machining new tools and spare parts Documenting and updating tool repair history and other work records Performing support and maintenance activities in the Toolroom and/or production area in a timely manner Required skills and qualifications include: Technical Requirements 7 years of experience in preventive/corrective maintenance processes of plastic injection molds, extrusion dies, plastic blow cavities, or other tools related to the production of medical components Confidence and experience in handling fixtures and jigs, bench fittings, lathe, milling, welding (with TIG, laser, microwelding), erosion (EDM), polishing, sharpening of burins and cutters, CNC (milling, lathe, EDM, Wire EDM) Ability to interpret engineering drawings and tolerance charts Ability to perform trigonometric and algebraic calculations Ability to define feed rates, cutting speeds, tool entry angles Knowledge to machine to exact tolerances using one or more methods Ability to stand in front of plastic processing machinery to identify causes and resolve problems with minimum downtime Ability to draw preliminary sketches and layouts of work orders received without a drawing Knowledge and ability to measure directly (touch) and indirectly (optically) using measuring instruments in a machine shop Possess a high school certificate and a completed technical degree in machining (machine tools) Knowledge of different types of materials and coating and heat treatment processes Knowledge of the processes for packaging, shipping, and disassembly of molds and plastic processing machinery Benefits of this role include: What We Offer Flexible working hours Able to work in small work teams Be innovative and proactive in solving problems and adaptable Desirable but not essential; and as additional experience, equipment repairs and machine tool maintenance service is an advantage If you are a motivated and experienced Toolmaker looking for a new challenge, please apply today.
