Assistant Controller / ControllerRemote (Work From Home) Schedule:New York (EST) | Full-time Role OverviewWe are seeking an experiencedAssistant Controller / Controllerto leadcorporate accounting and the monthly close processfor a growing US-based business. This role is hands-on and focused onbooking journal entries, maintaining clean general ledger records, and preparing accurate financials for reporting . This position isnot AR/AP- or Treasury-heavy . We are looking for a high-quality accounting professional withstrong tenure, proven stability, and the intention to grow long-term with the company . Key ResponsibilitiesCorporate Accounting & Month-End Close Own themonthly, quarterly, and annual close process Prepare and postjournal entries throughout the month(accruals, prepaids, amortizations, reclasses, adjustments) Maintain and reconcilebalance sheet accountswith strong audit-ready documentation Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of thegeneral ledger in NetSuite Apply and maintainUS GAAP–compliant accounting practices Financial Reporting & Audit Support Prepare schedules and support formanagement and external financial reporting Assist in the preparation offinancial statements and reporting packages Partner with FP&A, leadership, and external accountants as needed Supportaudit and review processes , including responding to auditor requests Systems, Controls & Process Improvement Serve as the accounting subject-matter expert forNetSuite Maintain and improve close checklists, reconciliations, and documentation Strengthen internal controls over financial reporting Identify and implement accounting process improvements as the business scales Industry-Specific Accounting (HVAC) Apply accounting knowledge specific to theHVAC industry , including: Job costing and project-based accounting Revenue recognition for service, maintenance, and installation contracts Accruals related to labor, materials, and subcontractors Ensure accurate period cutoffs aligned with operational activity QualificationsRequired 6–10+ years of progressive experience inUS corporate accounting Hands-on ownership ofmonth-end close Strong working experience withNetSuite Solid understanding and application ofUS GAAP Experience booking and reviewing journal entries Strong balance sheet reconciliation and documentation skills Experience in or exposure to theHVAC or construction services industry Stable work history demonstratinglong-term tenure Excellent written and verbal English communication skills Preferred CPA (US or equivalent)or CPA-track PriorAssistant Controller or Controllerexperience Experience working remotely with US-based teams Experience supporting audits for US entities Ideal Candidate ProfileHighly detail-oriented and process-driven Dependable, consistent, and deadline-focused Comfortable owning accounting end-to-end Looking for along-term role , not frequent job changes Confident working independently in a remote environment Why Join UsFully remote, work-from-home role New York–aligned schedule Clear accounting ownership with minimal operational distractions Opportunity to grow into or operate at a Controller level Long-term stability and trust-based work environment
