Android Engineer | MBD Group Location: Chihuahua, Mexico Monthly Salary: 2,800 – 4,500 pesos Base Pay Range MX$345,000.00/yr – MX$550,000.00/yr Overview As vehicle electrification continues to advance, Midtronics is actively engaged in partnering with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), aftermarket support providers, and battery manufacturers to develop tools that support effective battery management. The Android Software Engineer plays a vital role within the Midtronics Tool Software Team, which is tasked with designing and developing software applications across all Midtronics product platforms. These platforms include electric vehicle service equipment, automotive battery testers, and chargers. The software team works closely with customers to build systems and tools tailored to their battery management requirements. In this role, the Android Software Engineer is responsible for the design and development of Android software applications for a variety of products. Collaboration with a cross‑functional project team is key, enabling the decomposition of customer requirements, the design of solutions, and the implementation of features and customizations within Android software applications. An essential aspect of this position is maintaining a strong commitment to delivering high‑quality software and continuously striving for process and product improvement. Responsibilities Design, develop, and thoroughly test Android software applications for a range of products, ensuring robust and reliable solutions are delivered to meet diverse client needs. Work collaboratively with sales, marketing, and customers to create tailored software solutions, while carefully documenting product specifications to guide development and ensure clarity across teams. Identify opportunities for software enhancements that can increase operational efficiency and improve portability, actively implementing changes that optimize existing systems. Participate as a core member of a cross‑functional project team, operating within a Scrum framework to deliver high‑quality software releases through iterative development and collective problem‑solving. Develop, maintain, and refine automated test suites as part of a continuous integration environment, promoting stability and reliability throughout the development lifecycle. Provide technical support to account and customer service teams by troubleshooting and driving investigations into field issues, ensuring customer satisfaction and timely resolution of problems. Engage in ongoing continuous improvement initiatives aimed at advancing product quality, collaborating with colleagues to identify areas for process enhancement and foster a culture of innovation. Conduct thorough root cause analyses of post‑release software issues, enabling the team to address underlying problems and implement long‑term solutions that prevent recurrence. Qualifications 0–3 years of experience in designing and implementing software applications. Proficiency with Java and/or Kotlin. Oral and written communication skills. Experience working with customers to develop product solutions. Understanding of visual design concepts and creativity. Experience developing applications for Android environments. Background in creating Android applications for custom hardware or operating systems is beneficial. Experience writing applications that interface with external devices using protocols such as CAN, Bluetooth, Wi‑Fi, TCP/IP, etc. Experience with source control systems, including Git. Familiarity with Jira, Crucible, and Bitbucket is preferred. Published mobile application examples on the Android Marketplace are advantageous. Experience in embedded systems development is a plus.
