Job Description

Position SummarySenior Trade Compliance Leader with extensive experience supporting import and export operations. This position provides advanced guidance to ensure compliance with regulations in Mexico, the United States, and other foreign countries related to international trade activities. Contributes to the development of trade processes to prepare and obtain all required government import and export licenses, permits, certifications, and technology release determinations. Develops licensing plans and provides guidance to ensure accurate export and import transactions. Maintains applicable trade compliance records in accordance with government requirements. Contributes to training programs and audit assessments to ensure the implementation and effectiveness of internal controls. Supports investigations and resolution of trade compliance matters.Essential Job Functions- Conduct internal audits (Halyard, Ada Acuña, and Honduras) related to U.S.–Mexico customs trade compliance. - Review and update import/export logistics procedures and ensure proper implementation. - Report findings to the Customs Manager and propose corrective action plans. - Identify areas of opportunity to ensure departmental objectives are met. - Obtain, maintain, and oversee licenses, agreements, permits, certifications, technology release authorizations, and product jurisdiction determinations in accordance with government regulations and applicable company policies. - Review export/import authorizations and miscellaneous correspondence with regulatory agencies. - Ensure proper customs documentation is included and that shipments are authorized under appropriate license exemptions. - Review and approve documents and information provided to individuals or agencies to ensure licensing and regulatory compliance prior to release outside the company. - Perform jurisdiction determination and classification reviews. - Interpret regulatory requirements, SAT (government) regulations, and company import/export policies and procedures. - Participate in the development and implementation of company procedures, guidelines, and instructions to support compliance with U.S. government export/import regulations and company policies. - Demonstrate expertise in classification of goods and finished products according to the U.S.–Mexico Harmonized Tariff Schedule. - Maintain knowledge of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) that minimize duties paid on import and export transactions. - Serve as a subject matter expert in global trade compliance regulations. - Provide support to all areas within the customs function as required. - Support all other activities related to the position.Job Functions / Interactions- Plant Managers - Global Trade Manager - Halyard, Ada Acuña, and Honduras operations - U.S./Mexico Customs Brokers - External Legal Advisors and Consultants - Government agencies including SAT, ANAM, Ministry of Economy, COFEPRIS, among othersCore CompetenciesIntegrity- Earns the trust of customers and colleagues by consistently honoring commitments. - Promotes trust and serves as a role model for ethical behavior. - Ensures compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and contractual obligations.Development- Builds, cultivates, and maintains customer relationships. - Demonstrates self-awareness and proactively works to improve personal performance. - Contributes to an inclusive environment that values diversity of cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives.Excellence- Demonstrates a strong sense of urgency to deliver a superior customer experience. - Anticipates customer needs and prioritizes work to meet and exceed expectations. - Shows resilience and perseverance when solving problems, securing business, or delivering high-level customer service.Accountability- Keeps customers at the center of all work. - Fulfills commitments to internal and external customers. - Takes responsibility for decisions, communications, and actions.Listening- Seeks feedback from customers and colleagues and acts upon it. - Actively listens to customer needs and provides solutions and ideas to meet those needs.QualificationsEducation & Experience- Education: Bachelor’s degree (Professional level) - Languages: Advanced English - Experience: 5 to 10 yearsEssential Knowledge- Continuous training in international trade compliance - Knowledge of foreign trade legal regulations - Knowledge of goods classification according to tariff schedules - Knowledge of Free Trade Agreements and trade accords - Knowledge of global trade compliance regulations - Strong verbal and written communication skills
