About the RoleWe are seeking a heavy-hitter Tax Manager (based in Mexico) to join the Group Tax team. Reporting directly to the Global Head of Tax in Luxembourg, you will be the authoritative voice for all tax matters across Latin America. This is a high-impact role designed to centralize control and visibility within Global Tax. You will ensure that tax is no longer a localized finance activity but a globally integrated strategic function. Your mandate is to provide real-time oversight and a "full-picture" view of LATAM tax matters to the Global Tax ensuring that local finance teams adhere strictly to global policies and do not take tax matters into their own hands. You will be at the forefront of shaping the tax landscape as we rapidly grow, optimizing financial performance, mitigating and managing tax audits, while maintaining absolute compliance. Key ResponsibilitiesGlobal Governance & Local Finance OversightDirect Control: Establish yourself as the sole regional authority on tax, ensuring local finance teams do not engage with tax authorities or implement tax positions without prior approval from the Global Tax Real-Time Visibility: Implement reporting protocols and digital dashboards that provide Group Tax with an accurate, real-time view of all regional tax liabilities, filings, and audit statuses. Standardization: Enforce the "Swissport Global Tax Policy" across all LATAM entities to eliminate inconsistent local practices.Strategic Tax Planning & "Heavy Hitter" ExecutionOptimization & Cleanup: Drive rationalization of the regional legal entity structure and implement advanced strategies to mitigate Withholding Tax (WHT) leakage on cross-border flows. Incentive Capture: Command the identification and implementation of high-value tax incentives and credits, ensuring they are structured to withstand global scrutiny.Assertive Audit Defense (Mexico Focus)Command & Control: Lead the defense for multiple high-stakes Mexican SAT audits. You will manage external counsel with an iron grip, ensuring that every technical position is vetted by Global Head of Tax and aligned with global risk appetite. Authority Liaison: Act as the lead negotiator with regional tax authorities to resolve disputes and minimize exposure.Tax Compliance & Digital Transformation2026 Brazil Reform Leadership: Own the regional implementation of the Brazil Dual-VAT (CBS/IBS) transition. You will ensure our ERP systems and tax engines are synchronized to prevent local operational errors. Outsourcing Governance: Hold 3rd party providers accountable for "bulletproof" compliance, ensuring no return is filed without a centralized quality review.Expansion, M&A & Risk MitigationProvide "Tax-First" modeling for expansions into countries like Colombia, ensuring we enter new markets with a compliant and optimized structure from Day 1. Continuous Watch: Keep a watchful eye on global legislative shifts (Pillar Two, local reforms) and pre-emptively advise senior management on necessary pivots.Qualifications and CompetenciesSeniority: 8+ years of high-level international tax experience. A combination of advisory and in-house experience is considered a plus. You must be a "heavy hitter" capable of challenging internal and external stakeholders to ensure tax integrity. Education: Master’s degree in Tax (Law or Accounting). Audit Combat Experience: A proven track record of managing and winning complex tax audits in volatile jurisdictions like Mexico and Brazil. Strategic Communication: Ability to translate complex LATAM tax "noise" into clear, actionable executive insights for CFO and Global Head of Tax. Experience in ERP (SAP) and tax engine implementations to ensure data-driven, real-time reporting would be a plus. Verbal and written fluency in English is mandatory; Spanish and/or Portuguese is required to navigate regional nuances and authority interactions. Proactiveness and comfortable with the unclarity that comes with being part of a quickly changing and dynamic company. Not afraid of challenges or the unknown but roll up your sleeves and work to find a solution mentality.
