Job Description

Position Title: Sustaining Engineering Project Manager Reports To: Sr. Manufacturing Engineering Manager Department: Operations Summary of Position: The Sustaining Engineering Project Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating multiple engineering development and manufacturing transfer projects to ensure the timely delivery of high‑quality, cost‑effective products. This role defines project scope, schedules, and comprehensivly plans using best‑practice project management methods and tools such as Smartsheet or Microsoft Project. The Project Manager drives cross‑functional execution to meet performance, cost, and quality targets while managing resources, budgets, risks, and deviations. Operating within the Quality Management System (QMS), the role ensures disciplined project execution, proactive issue resolution, and successful achievement of all deliverables. The Sustaining Engineering Project Manager will work primarily onsite at Vapotherm’s Tijuana Facility and must be bilingual in English and Spanish at a minimum C1 level. Primary Responsibilities: Manage technical projects assigned involving disposable and capital/unit medical products. Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques. Balance the project team workload, ensuring the project team meets their committed project deliverables. Lead daily project team standups and weekly project sub-team meetings to drive completion to the timeline. Partner with Production, Supply Chain, Quality and Regulatory, and other cross functional teams as needed, to ensure project deliverables and manufacturing schedules are realistic, and that commit dates are achievable. When required, provide risk assessment and mitigation steps for project deliverables and mitigate as needed. Escalate issues as necessary to functional leadership; drive towards resolution Position Requirements - Education, Knowledge, Years of Experience, etc.: Bachelor’s Degree in applicable field of study 5+ years’ equivalent work experience in an ISO regulated industry (Medical, Automotive, Pharma). Strong interpersonal skills, including mentoring, coaching, collaborating, and team building. Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills with the ability to manage competing demands. Ability to identify risks and develop executable mitigation strategies Proficient computer skills, including Project management planning software(s), SharePoint, word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation applications. (ERP system experience is a plus) Ability to collaborate with cross-functional departments and develop strategies and solutions to engineering development and manufacturing transfer projects. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and experience interacting with both business and engineering professionals at all levels. Proficient reading and writing skills in English and Spanish at a minimum C1 level required.
