Job Description

Purpose of Job Position Create and/or revise the definition of parts and sub-assemblies in the form of 2D and/or 3D Product Definition Data Sets (PDDS: CAD models, drawings, BOMs) using different electronic data formats, and perform dimensional tolerance analyses (stackups) to support development, analysis, manufacturing, assembly, tooling, and inspection of the end-product. Major Duties With guidance and oversight by more senior Product Definition Engineering (PDE) staff: 1. Work within applicable Company and customer policies, procedures, engineering standards, design practices, specifications, and government or commercial regulations. 2. Understand and apply input from different engineering disciplines on assigned projects. 3. Create PDDS using Company and/or customer-sponsored CAD software (e.g., NX®) and release them in the Company and/or customer PLM system (e.g., TeamCenter®) 4. Apply dimensional tolerances and GD&T to PDDS for proper form, fit and function. 5. Perform simple and moderate difficulty dimensional tolerance analyses (stackups) 6. Communicate work status, and document and maintain updated records pertaining to assigned projects in applicable Company and/or customer's databases (e.g., Box®, Google® Drive, etc.) 7. Concurrently work on multiple projects, monitoring and documenting progress, ensuring on-time delivery and cost requirements are met. 8. Self-review of assigned work to ensure deliverables quality and adherence to the Company and/or customer requirements. 9. Present assigned projects in different forums, including (but not limited to) customer design reviews. Minimum Job Requirements 1. Bachelor’s degree or technical associate’s degree in a field relevant to the job (e.g., mechanical engineering, mechatronics engineering, aeronautical engineering, industrial designer, etc.) 2. Solid contribution in a similar role or previous position. 3. Effective written and oral communication. Must be able to understand technical conversations, ask questions, and communicate ideas, both in Spanish and English. 4. Demonstrated experience and advanced/expert skills in 3D CAD parametric modeling with NX® v.20 or higher, using: a) Sketches, constraints, and expressions. b) Basic operations (extrude, revolve, boolean, trim, edge blend, chamfer draft, shell, offset, etc.) c) Datum planes, axes, and coordinate systems. d) Advanced curve creation and editing (studio splines, bridge curves, composite, iso-parametric, etc.) e) Lofted/swept surfaces (through curves, through curve mesh, sweep, studio surfaces, etc.) f) Face continuity/curvature controls, surface analysis to examine geometry, g) Surface trimming (trim/extend sheet, sew, offset) h) Variable blending, thickening. i) Mold and tool surfacing. j) Feature patterns and mirroring, feature grouping. k) WAVE geometry linking. l) Assembly constraints, and component patterns. 5. Skilled in creation of 2D drawings using NX® v.20 or higher. 6. Familiar with GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and drawing interpretation. 7. Knowledge of arithmetic and pictorial dimensional tolerance analysis (stackups), including the use of GD&T. 8. Use of MS Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Desired Characteristics 1. Model-Based Definition (MBD) and Product and Manufacturing Information (PMI annotation) using NX® v.20 or higher. 2. Experience with TeamCenter® v.10 or higher. 3. Knowledge of Teamcenter® Visualization (Vismockup) 4. Knowledge of common manufacturing, assembly and inspection processes. 5. Familiar with components/parts made of composite materials (polymer matrix composites) 6. Awareness of project management principles. 7. Exposure to the New Product Introduction (NPI) design process and tollgates (CDR, PDR, DDR, VDR) 8. Systems thinking, understanding of interfacing components, assemblies and systems. 9. Initiative, proactiveness and sense of urgency. 10. Familiar with problem solving methodologies. 11. Team player.
