The Staff Accountant will support the accounting function with a strong focus on U.S. GAAP compliance and SOX internal controls. This role is hands-on and detail-oriented, contributing to accurate financial reporting, month-end close, and ongoing control activities in a U.S.-based environment.Location:Providencia, Guadalajara, Mexico(3 days per week in the office) ️Language:Bilingual, English and Spanish Work Authorization:Must be legally authorized to work and currently reside in MexicoKey Responsibilities Prepare and post journal entries in accordance withU.S. GAAP Support month-end and year-end close processes, including account reconciliations and variance analysis Maintain and reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts Assist in the preparation of financial statements and internal management reports Ensure compliance withSOX controls , including documentation, testing, and remediation support Participate in internal and external audits by preparing schedules and responding to audit requests Review transactions to ensure accuracy, proper classification, and adherence to accounting policies SupportAPandARactivities as needed, including accruals and reviews Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial data and timely reporting Identify process improvement opportunities related to accounting and internal controls RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance 5-8 years of accounting experience, preferably in aU.S.-basedor multinational environment Strong knowledge ofU.S. GAAP Hands-on experience withSOXcompliance and internal controls Experience with month-end close and general ledger accounting Proficiency inExcel(formulas, pivot tables, data analysis) Experience withERPsystems(NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, or similar preferred) Advanced English proficiency (written and verbal) Exposure to audits (internal or external) BenefitsWhy Join MezTal?AtMeztal , we prioritize innovation, collaboration, and personal growth.
