Job Description

Position Summary The Quality Reliability Technician is responsible for building, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing complex electromechanical equipment, fixtures, and instrument systems. Using knowledge of reliability testing equipment and methodology, advises and recommends testing methods, setup and fixture design. Execute test protocols, document test results and communicate test findings and results to Reliability or Quality Engineers. Is also responsible for maintaining and improving the quality system in accordance with the requirements of, as appropriate, the following standards: ISO 9001, ISO 13485, MDSAP, FDA 21 CFR Part 820/211, EU MDR, NOM-241-SSA1, ASME Sección VIII division 1 and other applicable standards. This role supports operations production and process controls as well for New Product/Process Development, supports also for quality improvement with the use of basic statistical techniques and other accepted quality principles. Duties Utilize basic statistical concepts and statistical tools. Participate in the development of test protocols and reports. Set up and program reliability test equipment, chambers and vibration tables. Tests the reliability of new products and design changes under varying operational conditions. Capture and maintain detailed test data for tested equipment. Analyze test results. Interpret and analyze mechanical and electrical designs from schematics and drawings. Participate in the implementation of STERIS Reliability Program. Maintain the Reliability testing equipment or tooling. Operate test equipment that measures temperature, electricity, light, flow, pressure, strain, force, distance, time, noise and weight. May operate, set up and program Kaye Data Acquisition Systems and associated software. Operate STERIS equipment. Fabricate, repair, improve designs and construct mechanical and electromechanical equipment. Design and conduct automated test fixtures. Work with sheet metal and plastics. Be responsible for operating, programming, and maintaining CMM to ensure the quality and precision of components. Conduct detailed quality inspections, interpret engineering blueprints, and develop measurement programs. Create reports and databases utilizing Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point). Identify potential issues and continuous improvement. Education Degree Associate's Degree Specific Work Requirements 3 years of experience in electrical and mechanical assembly/troubleshooting and software development for complete control and data acquisition systems. 1 year of experience with common electronic testing equipment, i.e. data analyzers, loggers, meters, oscilloscopes, etc. 1 year of experience developing automated test equipment (PLC and Programming). 1 year of experience in basic GD&T (read / drawings interpretation). Demonstrate experience leading or participating on improvement projects. Experience with Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, etc.). Specific Work Preferences Experience working on cross‑functional teams and on own initiative. Medical device or other regulated industries experience preferred. ASQ, QSR or familiarity with QSR/GMP regulations. Background on steel, mechanical assembly process. Knowledge on problem‑solving methodologies. Experience with common Reliability testing equipment, i.e. Environmental Chambers, HALT Chambers, Shakers, Altitude test Chamber is a plus. Knowledge of advanced data gathering and analysis techniques, including statistical analysis is a plus. Specific Skills and/or Business Competencies Problem‑solving skills. Demonstrated excellent organizational, oral and written communications skills. Effective interpersonal skills to interact with cross‑functional team members.
