JDRoss have partnered with a key client of are looking for a CDAE qualified secondary design engineer.The Secondary Design Engineer will lead and work in a skilled team on a wide range of substation projects. The position will focus on the project and tender engineering and its interfaces and scope of work involved in HV - substation design and construction projects.Areas of ResponsibilityOverall responsible for managing & leading all secondary engineering activitiesInstruct, supervise & coordinate with other engineering team, internal & external partners, sub-suppliers, secondary engineers & civil engineers.Review of P&C design packages.Submitting completed Design Packages for Design Compliance AuditEnsuring all design changes are managed in accordance with the design change management process defined as per NGAttending Design Review meetings (DRMs) and Hazard review meetings (HRMs) as requiredReview and certify the design packages.Secondary design but not limited to SLD, AC & DC distribution systems, battery and battery chargers sizing, voltage drop, cable sizing, signal lists, setting calculation, interface lists, cable block diagrams, multicore & fiber optic cable schedules, and cables core sheets, etc.Coordinate with suppliers and reviewing their deliverables. Check remote end requirements and provide input to supplier.Be familiar with Substation control system and its architectureParticipate in technical discussions with customers and suppliers, handle site queries and take necessary actions up to as-built documentationTechnical Expertise required:Prepare Design Intent Document (DID) / Functional Design Specification (FDS) based on supplier inputsReviewing supplier deliverables based on project specifications and standards.Support site team during execution stage.Provide technical calculations and schedules for all equipment for projects or tenders.Review of Suppliers design and Factory acceptance test plans.Provide technical support and to develop tender scheme options and related project scope documents.Availability to travel 25 % of the time (domestic/international travel) working in an office and on a construction siteExperience Required:Bachelor or Masters in electrical engineering or equivalentExtensive years of substation engineering experience in utilities.Contractor Design approval engineer (CDAE) P&C certification from National Grid.Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards itResult orientated team player with a proactive approach.Expert knowledge in Substation secondary design engineering, AC & DC system calculation, compilation of signal list, setting calculation, interface engineering and preparing cable schedulesWhats on offer:Multinational officesPool of engineers so a very supportive and creative environment80,000-90,000 SalaryEnd of year bonusMonthly car allowance10% pension contribution and life insurances25 days holiday
