Job overviewAs a result of ongoing project work, we are looking for an experienced field engineer for a 6 month Fixed Term Contract. The engineer will be part of the Northamptonshire Projects team, dedicated to assisting with the Wireless Access Point Refresh Project. This post will be mostly field-based in Northamptonshire with some office work. Main duties of the jobBand 6 Senior IT Field Engineer to work within the Projects/Programmes Management and Delivery (PPMD) team as a technical subject matter expert. The primary focus will be working alongside other technical and project staff and assisting with project delivery. The role requires a good understanding of networking and problem-solving skills. Detailed job description and main responsibilitiesCore Duties and Responsibilities include: • Work under general direction within a clear framework of accountability. • Maintain constructive relationships with internal and external stakeholders. • Assist the Project/Programme Manager to develop and maintain high standards of Technical Delivery. • Participate in regular IT customer and internal stakeholder meetings regarding projects. Person specificationMobilityCar driver / owner or reasonable alternative. Full UK Drivers License Education / Training / QualificationsEducated to degree level in relevant IT subject or equivalent plus significant experience. An advanced recognised Industry standard qualification in IT (e.g., Microsoft or Cisco certification). Working knowledge of PRINCE2 project management methodology. ExperienceExperience providing senior level complex technical support through a team of service engineers. Significant experience in providing complex, specialist support. Experience working in an NHS IT Technical environment. Skills / AbilitiesExcellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Ability to analyse and interpret information. Problem-solving skills and ability to respond to unexpected demands. Interpersonal SkillsClear communicator with excellent writing and presentation skills. Able to manage difficult situations with customers.
