This post will be for a 6 month contract, with a potential to extend. The successful candidate will join a dynamic and collegiate group of Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle surgeons to deliver tertiary elective services. The successful candidate will also join the on-call trauma rota in the United Kingdom's busiest Major Trauma Centre. They will join a dynamic and collegiate group of 26 other T&O consultant colleagues. The successful candidate will ideally have a commitment and genuine interest in diabetic feet, ankle and revision ankle arthroplasty, trauma, and deformity correction. We anticipate that the successful post holder will have recognised fellowship training in Foot and Ankle surgery. Previous experience of employment in the NHS is mandatory. Interviews for this post will be held at the City Hospital Campus on 23rd May 2025. Main duties of the jobThe successful candidate will support the Elective Orthopaedic team at the City Hospital, Treatment Centre and the Trauma and Orthopaedic team at Queen's Medical Centre, Nottingham. The successful candidate will work within the Foot and Ankle team, sharing the inpatient, outpatient management and diabetic foot management as part of a multidisciplinary team. In addition, they will contribute on the trauma on-call rota. There is a weekly Foot and Ankle MDT which the post holder will be expected to attend and contribute. Person specificationProfessional RegistrationFull GMC registration Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via CCT or CESR (CP) - proposed CCT/CESR (CP) date must be within 6 months of interview CESR or European Community Rights Professional Qualifications/ DevelopmentFRCS (Orth) or equivalent Fellowship training in hand surgery. Hand surgery experience within a Major Trauma Centre Post Graduate Diploma in hand surgery (registered or completed). Clinical Skills/ ExperienceAppropriate career progression Evidenced technical skills as described in the job description Able to communicate effectively and appropriately with patients, their families and other health professionals.
