Detailed job description and main responsibilitiesMAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Clinical Regularly undertake a wide range of radiographic examinations including plain film, fluoroscopy, and CT ensuring high standards of technique and patient care. Work within and adhere to departmental and Trust policies and procedures and ensure that these are adhered to by more junior staff. Participate in the Imaging On-Call rota, extended working day system, and weekend duties. Perform intravenous injections of contrast media as directed by the Radiologists and with the appropriate qualification, as required. Liaise with other areas of the Trust to ensure the best patient care by having a flexible approach to the use of staff and equipment. Communicate and liaise with all members of Trust staff including the multidisciplinary team and deliver sensitive information to patients and carers where there may be barriers to communication, ensuring that patients understand the procedure and receive appropriate reassurance. Record data concerning the patients’ examination, in line with IRMER 2017 legislation and factors relating to the patients’ clinical condition. Maintain a professional attitude for the dignity and well-being of the patient and ensure confidentiality at all times. Person specificationQualificationsDiploma of the College of Radiographers or BSc (Hons) Radiography Current HCPC Registration ExperiencePost-Basic Registration with extensive relevant experience within the NHS Post Graduate Certificate relevant to Diagnostic Imaging Wide-ranging experience of plain film, fluoroscopy, and mobile radiography. Experience of specialist orthopaedic procedures Skills & KnowledgeMust communicate complex information such as when discussing allergies and past medical history, prior to undertaking examinations. Expected to discuss sensitive information i.e. pregnancy-related issues, with patients. Expected to undertake examinations on patients with special needs or learning difficulties.
