Main area:Paediatrics Grade:Band 3 Contract:Permanent Hours:Full time - 37.5 hours per week Job ref:321-NOTSS-6842174-B3 Site:John Radcliffe Hospital Town:Oxford Salary:£24,071 - £25,674 per annum pro rata Salary period:Yearly Closing:01/01/2025 23:59 Job overview As a member of the team in this enhanced role, support and work closely with registered practitioners to deliver a high standard of care to patients, families and their carers in a safe and supportive environment without the need for direct supervision. To work as part of the wider team in developing and maintaining services provided to patients and contribute to the safe, efficient and smooth running of the ward/clinical area or department. This will be undertaken whilst maintaining the dignity and privacy of all patients and respecting their right to confidentiality. To complete and maintain on an ongoing basis a generic and specific portfolio of clinical competencies and/or Care Certificate as required. To be motivated in order to review progress with Manager at regular intervals through the appraisal process. Main duties of the jobThis role will involve caring for children and teenagers with the support of a registered nurse and being responsible for some housekeeping duties. Training will be given to successful applicants who will be required to complete a set of competencies enabling them to undertake specific additional nursing care duties and responsibilities. Able to communicate effectively with patients/relatives and carers and all members of the multi-disciplinary team. Is sensitive to the impact and implications of decisions and activities undertaken on other professionals. Personal QualitiesAble to work under minimal supervision but fully aware when to escalate concerns to a registered practitioner. Flexible, adaptable, organised with good time management skills. Ability to cope effectively under pressure and resilient and work within the team to manage complex and challenging situations. Excellent interpersonal skills with tact, diplomacy, empathy and understanding. Smart professional appearance and adherence to uniform policy. Recognise limitations of role and seek help and guidance. Essential IT skills in order to access required systems such as electronic patient records.
