Job overviewWe are inviting applications from enthusiastic Clinical Psychologists/counselling psychologists/family therapists/clinical nurse specialists for a Band 7 split post across our multi-disciplinary Outpatients team and ARFID Team (0.7 wte outpatients / 0.3 wte ARFID), as part of our eating disorders service for children and young people. Our multi-disciplinary team includes Clinical Psychology, Nursing, Dietetic, Psychiatry, and Paediatric posts, supported by a friendly Admin Team. Main duties of the jobThe post-holder will provide a specialist service including assessment, treatment, monitoring of outcomes and the provision of clinical supervision, consultation and training. The post holder will also contribute to service evaluation, research and policy development. There are many opportunities available within the service in relation to continued professional development. Key responsibilities: To provide specialist psychotherapeutic/clinical intervention services to the MCCAED Outpatient and ARFID teams including specialist assessment, treatment, planning, implementation and monitoring of outcomes. To contribute to enabling other staff, service users and carers from diverse backgrounds to flourish by working to create a psychologically safe environment. To provide clinical supervision and consultation as appropriate, functioning as a specialist in eating disorders in children and young people. To work as an autonomous professional within BPS, HCPC and other professional guidelines and codes of conduct, and guided by the policies and procedures of the service, taking responsibility for own work including treatment and discharge decisions with support of clinical supervisor. Detailed job description and main responsibilitiesThe main purpose of this post is to fulfil the role of a band 7 Clinical Psychologist (or counselling psychologist, family therapist, clinical nurse specialist) delivering the highest quality care in a national and specialist service for children and young people with eating disorders. The post holder will be expected to: Provide specialist psychotherapeutic/clinical assessments and interventions to the Outpatient and ARFID teams, MCCAED, based at the Michael Rutter Centre, supporting children and young people with eating disorders and their families. Contribute to enabling other staff, service users and carers from diverse backgrounds to flourish by working to create a psychologically safe environment. Provide clinical supervision and consultation as appropriate. Undertake service evaluation, audit, and research. Work as an autonomous professional within BPS, HCPC and other professional guidelines and codes of conduct, and guided by the policies and procedures of the service, taking responsibility for own work including treatment and discharge decisions with support of clinical supervisor. Person specificationQualificationsDoctorate in Clinical Psychology, or MSc PG Diploma or Doctorate in Counselling Psychology or equivalent nursing or family therapy qualification. (A/I) Registration (or eligibility for registration) with the HCPC as Practitioner Psychologist or equivalent professional registration with AFT, UKCP, NMC. (A/I) Additional training in psychotherapeutic interventions (A/I) ExperienceExperience of psychotherapeutic assessment and treatment of clients with a range of mental health needs of a complex nature. (A/I) Experience that supports working with, and addressing issues of, diversity within local communities. This may have been gained through work, research, volunteering and/or lived experience. (A/I) Experience of assessment and treatment of clients with eating disorders. (A/I) Experience of group interventions with young people and parents/carers (A/I) Experience of psychotherapeutic assessment and treatment of clients engaging in challenging behaviour (A/I) Understanding and knowledgeTheoretical knowledge of a wide range of psychopathology and the evidence base for relevant treatment. (A/I) Knowledge of the potential physical risks associated with eating disorders (A/I) Knowledge of NICE guideline interventions for young people with Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa and other eating disorders.
