OverviewThe Job in a Nutshell: The Grocery/Dairy/Frozen/Bulk Assistant is responsible for assisting the Grocery/Bulk and Dairy/Frozen Managers in the successful operation and profitability of the departments. Applications are accepted by the date below, which may be updated if the hiring timeline is extended. 04/28/2025 ResponsibilitiesMain Responsibilities: Providing excellent customer service as a top priority. Exemplifying integrity, responsibility, and excellence, and adhering to all policies. Creating inviting, full, and shoppable departments. Assisting in ordering and maintaining inventory for grocery, bulk, dairy, and frozen departments. Managing margins, COGs, and overall profitability, including minimizing shrink and maximizing purchasing efficiency. Ensuring products meet company standards. Offering and following up on special orders. Merchandising shelves, endcaps, and displays. Participating in tagging, facing, rotating, cleaning, markdowns, stocking, and backstock. Training and monitoring department personnel and assigning tasks. Conducting demos and addressing performance issues. Supporting store opening and closing activities, including sales reports and cash handling. Handling register functions, managing customer returns, and addressing complaints. Maintaining safety and security. Answering customer questions and increasing product knowledge. Utilizing SAP and other software tools. Working a schedule based on store needs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, with a 40-hour workweek and mandatory meetings. This position has limited Manager on Duty responsibilities but is not the overall Manager on Duty. All employees are expected to be hands-on and contribute to the company's success. QualificationsRequirements for Success: High School diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred. 1 year of experience in grocery or retail, with natural foods background a plus. 1 year of supervisory experience preferred. Ability to pass food safety training and maintain certifications. Ability to manage priorities and stay focused. Sense of urgency and excellent customer service skills. Highly organized with attention to detail. Ability to follow directions and perform cashier duties. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook. This job description is not a contract and may change.
