Provide technical and engineering expertise to resolve mobile plant engineering issues. Develop and implement planned maintenance and inspection schedules to meet statutory and quality standards. Manage engineering resources and materials to optimize mobile plant availability, costs, and performance. Ensure contractor competence, safety procedures, and compliance with permits and access requirements. Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental legislation. Participate in developing long-term strategic plant replacement and improvement strategies. Negotiate contracts and organize maintenance, refurbishment, and modification services with specialist contractors. Identify training needs within the engineering teams to foster a safety-conscious and competent workforce. Required Qualifications and SkillsMinimum Level 3 HNC / NVQ in Mechanics or Mechanical Engineering. Experience or ability to develop expertise in garage management, MOT preparations, HGV inspections, and locomotive maintenance. Technical expertise demonstrated through relevant experience. Strong management, communication, and leadership skills to motivate a multi-skilled workforce. Knowledge of mobile plant health, safety, and environmental practices, especially HSE HSG261 standards.
