Job Description

Systems Engineer (PLC / SCADA) Location: Norwich Salary: Up to 55,000 Car / Car Allowance / Van Overtime Contract Type: Full Time Sector: Water, Infrastructure, Automation The Role: J3A Recruitment is working with a leading specialist in MEICA and automation solutions to find a Systems Engineer with solid experience in PLC and SCADA software development. Youll be designing, constructing, and testing control systems for a variety of projects from water and wastewater treatment to automation-heavy industrial builds. This is a hands-on, delivery-focused role with site involvement and real ownership over your work ideal for someone whos confident with both the coding and commissioning side of things. Key Responsibilities: Design and write PLC, HMI, and SCADA software from functional specs Create project documentation including FDS, test plans, and I/O lists Work with systems like Allen Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Wonderware, Rockwell Test, proof, and document code to high standards Understand and work from electrical schematics and P&IDs Conduct site-based commissioning, upgrades, and repairs Analyse and modify legacy code where needed Communicate effectively with internal teams and clients Play a key role in ongoing process improvement and system optimisation What Were Looking For: Experience writing PLC code in an engineering or customer-facing environment Solid understanding of SCADA systems and industrial automation Familiarity with electrical systems and mechanical integration Proficient with Microsoft Office and technical documentation Experience in sectors such as Water, Wastewater, Food & Beverage, or Automotive Knowledge of FDS/Test Plans and control logic design Commercial awareness and H&S understanding Strong interpersonal and communication skills Whats On Offer: Up to 55,000 basic salary Choice of car, car allowance, or van Paid overtime Flexible/Agile working available Career progression through tailored development pathways Private healthcare options Pension scheme Mental and physical wellbeing support through structured programmes Discounts on lifestyle, tech, and travel Long-term career stability with a company delivering key UK infrastructure
