Job Description

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Sonographer to join our diagnostic imaging team, specialising in both adult and paediatric ultrasound examinations. The successful candidate will provide a high standard of patient care while delivering accurate diagnostic imaging services in a busy and supportive environment. This role requires a professional who is confident in a wide range of ultrasound procedures including abdominal, gynaecological, small parts, musculoskeletal, and paediatric imaging. Key Responsibilities: Perform high-quality ultrasound examinations for adult and paediatric patients in line with national and departmental protocols. Accurately interpret and report ultrasound findings, or assist radiologists in reporting where appropriate. Work collaboratively with radiologists, clinicians, and other healthcare professionals to support patient care pathways. Ensure excellent communication with patients, including providing reassurance and clear instructions throughout the procedure. Maintain accurate and timely records of scans and patient interactions. Participate in continuous professional development and departmental audit activities. Adhere to policies and national guidelines, including infection control, safeguarding, and health & safety regulations. Essential Requirements: Registration with HCPC or other recognised UK professional regulatory body (e.g. SCoR). Proven experience in adult general sonography (e.g. abdominal, pelvic, small parts). Competency in paediatric ultrasound Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Desirable: Experience in vascular ultrasound. Prior NHS experience or familiarity with UK healthcare systems.
