Maintenance Fitter Manufacturing Industry Location: Consett Salary: 34,777.58 per annum Job Type: Full-time Working Hours: Monday to Thursday, 7:30am 4:00pm; Friday, 7:30am 2:00pm An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Maintenance Fitter to join a well-established manufacturing business in Consett. This role plays a key part in ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, and repair of production machinery, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and contributing to a safe and efficient working environment. Key Responsibilities: Carry out routine maintenance and repairs on production machinery to minimise downtime. Ensure the effectiveness of all safety guarding and compliance with company safety standards. Work closely with Production Supervisors to coordinate maintenance activities efficiently. Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment failures , identifying root causes and implementing solutions. Support the installation of new machinery and contribute to continuous improvement projects. Collaborate with sub-contractors to ensure maintenance work aligns with health and safety regulations. Perform bench fitting, fabrication work , and other mechanical tasks as required. Maintain compliance with environmental procedures and report any issues promptly. Key Skills & Experience: Strong knowledge of fabrication and MIG welding . Experience working with pneumatics and hydraulics . Basic understanding of lathes, vertical millers, and surface grinders . Press tool maintenance experience would be an advantage. Ability to work proactively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment . Well-organised, with the ability to prioritise tasks and respond to emergencies. Strong understanding of health and safety regulations within a production setting. NVQ (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or Fabrication and Welding Engineering Technology , ideally gained through an apprenticeship. What's on Offer?
