Job overviewAn exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Band 6 Occupational Therapist, or an experienced Band 5 Occupational Therapist looking for development opportunity to join our Occupational Therapy service for Children and Young People Service in Hywel Dda Health Board. Applications are invited from occupational therapists with demonstrable experience in working within paediatric occupational therapy. This is an exciting time to join our service as we re-design and develop innovative ways of delivering services to children and young people with a wide range of occupational therapy needs equitably across the three large geographical areas covered by the Health Board. The successful post holder will support the existing patient focused pathways along with developing new pathways where required, including within the agreed area of specialism. Main duties of the jobWe’re seeking to appoint a proactive, motivated and dynamic individual with demonstrable experience of providing Occupational Therapy services to Children and Young people and whose values are aligned to those of Hywel Dda University Health Board. There is a wealth of clinical knowledge and experience within the team and we are committed to supporting the professional development of staff. We have an established CPD programme and are willing to support formal training opportunities where required. You will be joining an experienced, highly motivated and supportive team, delivering high quality, evidence based, Occupational Therapy services to Children and Young People with a wide range of functional needs. We actively support professional development and encourage all Occupational Therapy staff to take an active role in service improvement. The post holder will be expected to travel between settings. Mileage allowance is payable and a lease car scheme is available. Working for our organisationHywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 12,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services to almost 400,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. We do this in partnership with our three local authorities and public, private and third sector colleagues, including our volunteers, through: Four main hospitals: Bronglais General in Aberystwyth, Glangwili General in Carmarthen, Prince Philip in Llanelli and Withybush General in Haverfordwest. Five community hospitals: Amman Valley Hospital and Llandovery Hospital in Carmarthenshire, Tregaron Hospital in Ceredigion and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire Hospital Health and Social Care Resource Centre in Pembrokeshire. Two integrated care centres (Aberaeron and Cardigan, Ceredigion). Community facilities, including: 48 General Practices (GP surgeries), 49 Dental Practices, 98 Community Pharmacies (chemists), 44 General Ophthalmic Practices (including eye health and low vision services), 38 sites providing mental health and learning disability services, care within your own homes. Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales. Detailed job description and main responsibilitiesThis post is advertised as a Band 6, however applicants who do not currently hold all the necessary competencies to a Band 6 level are encouraged to apply and, if successful, will be appointed under Annex 21 rules whereby d uring the first year payment will be 70% of the top rate of band 6 pay, and the second year 75%. Applicants would be supported to develop their competencies required to fulfil the role within 24 months. Following successful completion and successful attainment of skills and competences for the role, the post holder will then be paid at band 6 (minimum point on the scale). Failure to achieve the competencies in the designated timeframe could result in re-deployment. As part of the Annex 21 process, there is no financial penalty to those who apply for this role where the percentage will cause a reduction in pay, subsequently a local protection would be put in place until the pay has caught up.
