As Peatland Restoration Officer, you’ll use your expertise to plan and oversee a 3-year restoration programme across the Abergwesyn group of Commons. You’ll manage contractors, implementing techniques like hagg reprofiling and dam building to cover exposed peat, reversing the decline of peatland habitats, restoring the land and helping to mitigate the effects of climate change Collaborating with colleagues, external partners and collaborators and the local community, you'll advocate for Peatland management, promoting the importance of conserving and restoring our precious upland habitats. This role offers opportunities to influence how the National Trust manages peatland restoration across South Wales, helping the Trust move towards achieving higher standards of land management for nature and climate. What it's like This role is part of the National Trust Cymru Consultancy Team - an in-house team of multidisciplinary experts who form a great repository of skills and experience. Based in the Brecon Beacons, you will join a dedicated and skilled countryside team of Rangers and Project Officers, committed to implementing real change in local communities and across the land we care for. What you'll be doing You’ll lead, support, and assist the property team in delivering peatland and nature restoration in one of our key Nature Accelerator portfolios, representing National Trust Cymru internally and externally. You’ll deliver restoration programmes alongside staff and volunteers, reporting within our project-management framework and sharing insights with others involved in similar initiatives. You’ll deliver the following elements: Habitat Restoration: Preparing peat restoration plans and managing contractor agreements to improve habitats and natural flood control. Peatland and Climate Programmes: Ensuring work aligns with the National Trust's Peatland Code Protocols.
