Job Description

Microbiology Technician Location:Bournville, Birmingham Working Hours:6:30 AM - 4:30 PM Pay Rate:£16.03 per hour Company Overview: We are recruiting on behalf of a leading food manufacturer in Bournville, Birmingham. Our client is seeking a qualified Microbiology Technician to support their QA Microbiology lab, serving multiple manufacturing plants. Key Responsibilities: Microbiological Analysis:Conduct routine microbiological analysis of raw materials, WIP, and finished products to the agreed specifications and sampling rates. Health & Safety:Uphold the highest Health & Safety standards, contributing to the overall H&S culture within the QA laboratory. GLP Compliance:Ensure adherence to GLP standards. Environmental Sampling:Implement and maintain the Environmental Sampling Programme, including sampling and data analysis. Lab Equipment Maintenance:Perform basic maintenance of laboratory equipment. Sample Preparation:Prepare samples for analysis, including media preparation. Results Reporting:Accurately and timely report results in SAP or external systems for non-production samples. Data Analysis:Analyze data, report results, and interpret findings. QC Participation:Engage in relevant QC and proficiency schemes. Team Support:Provide cover and assistance for other laboratory staff and support the manufacturing quality department during plant-based GMP and external audits. Required Qualifications and Skills: Educational Background:Educated to degree level or HND/HNC level in a microbiology-related field. Practical Experience:Demonstrated practical experience within a microbiology lab environment. Technical Knowledge:Practical knowledge of microbiological test methods and apparatus, with the ability to apply this knowledge to improve laboratory activities. Auditing Knowledge:Preferred understanding of auditing processes. GLP Principles:Strong understanding of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) principles. Shift Pattern:4 on 4 off rolling shift pattern, including weekends and bank holidays. Lab is closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year's Day.
