Role summaryReporting to the Facility Services & HSSC Director, the Group Energy and Sustainability Manager will work closely with in-house teams and selected contractors to implement, and further develop, Pinewood’s Energy, Sustainability & Environmental strategies and further enhance Pinewood’s position as a responsible custodian of our local environment.The role will support Pinewood Group colleagues, and contractors, overseeing carbon management and reduction packages of works, campaigns and policies and supporting the value for money development and execution of utility procurement strategies. The role will also lead on the implementation of the Group-wide sustainability and environmental strategy as part of the Group’s wider ESG mandate.The role will lead on affecting behavioural change initiatives related to sustainability, and deliver against ambitious sustainability targets, whilst also creating vision and a strategy fit for future energy efficiency and sustainability action.This role is based within HSSC (Health, Safety, Sustainability & Compliance) function and works closely with other functional and compliance roles supporting the business.Principle accountabilitiesLead on the procurement and negotiation of utility contracts (electricity; mains and bulk gas; heating oil; and water) for Pinewood and Shepperton Studios in partnership with consultants. Monitor utility contracts; verify and approve utility invoices. Lead the implementation of, influence, and deliver the Pinewood Group’s sustainability, energy and environmental strategies. Execute strategies to manage and reduce the Studios’ impact on the environment, such as energy use, resource conservation, recycling, pollution reduction, waste elimination, transportation, education, and building design. Support heads of business function and leaders within the Pinewood Group to deliver an integrated sustainability and environmental management strategy and demonstrate progress against strategic objectives and performance indicators. Act as the lead in carbon management, reduction & reporting, ensuring accurate annual data collection and monitoring of utility consumption and directing the implementation of the carbon management plan to ensure the transition to a low-carbon organisation. Manage the Studios’ energy metering and Automatic Meter Reader (AMR) system. Work alongside the internal Finance team to ensure accurate energy billing to the Studios’ Productions and Tenants, ensuring maximum cost recovery. Identify, develop and implement energy saving opportunities strategies and policies to reduce energy consumption across the Group’s portfolio. Provide technical and practical advice and offer training on energy efficiency. Report on actions taken to reduce energy consumption.Carbon footprint calculation and reporting – Scopes 1, 2, and 3. Administer all corporate sustainability and energy use aspects of the Pinewood Group. Ensure compliance with all UK environmental and energy statutory reporting obligations. Draft and prepare reports, presentations, and proposals; present proposals and recommendations to the Senior Leadership Team, Board of Directors, and other key stakeholders. Assess and analyse company policies and processes to identify areas and processes to which improvements can be made in accordance with the organisation’s commitment to sustainability and environmental management. Propose and implement strategies to address various environmental concerns including energy use, wildlife and biodiversity conservation, reduction of potential pollution sources, flood management, recycling, building and facility design, and general education of key stakeholders on sustainability matters. Deliver sustainability training and awareness campaigns to internal staff, tenants and customers on site. Management, development, and pastoral care of the Sustainability team.Skills And ExperienceEssential criteriaDegree or post graduate degree in a related energy management / sustainability / environmental science subject. Experience in energy management, billing, and invoicing. Experience in energy procurement and contract negotiation. Experience in report writing and developing, reviewing and implementing environmental and sustainability policies and procedures. Broad knowledge and experience of sustainability and energy management issues. Experience of Environmental / Energy Management Systems, ideally ISO14001 and ISO50001. Experience of facilities utility management. Environmental and Energy reporting, legislation, and compliance requirements. Delivery of energy billing and energy procurement. Familiar with energy technologies. Calculation of Scope 1 and 2 carbon footprint Ability to drive and manage the change process. Leadership, involving and motivating others, both within and external to the organisation.Desirable criteriaObtained or working towards professional qualifications in energy or environmental matters. Developed within area of expertise by achieving Chartered environmentalist status, demonstrating professional knowledge and experience.
