Job Title:Infrastructure Train Planner Location:Crewe Shifts:Monday - Friday 8:00 - 4:00 Reports to:Infrastructure Planning Manager Purpose of the Role:To carry out planning workloads efficiently and effectively to comply with network code and industry processes. To work within the wider planning team to ensure that the weekly train plan is implemented in a timely and efficient manner, liaising with industry contacts as necessary. Particular emphasis will be placed upon producing a plan that maximises profitability for Freightliner Heavy Haul whilst meeting customer requirements. Main duties and responsibilities:Work as directed by Infrastructure Planning Manager. Meet strict deadlines. Work as part of the planning team to deliver weekly train plan as required to provide a first class service to both customer and Freightliner Heavy Haul. Examination of Network Rail documentation and possession train orders. Production of train crew diagrams making most efficient use of the driver resources. Liaising as necessary with industry partners and suppliers. Work with operations and rosters as required. Work as required to ensure that all duties are carried out. Financial:Focus on working within budget parameters. Focus on continuous improvement to enhance efficiencies and effectiveness in the planning team. Health and Safety:Contribute to the improvement of the safety culture. Take reasonable care of own health and safety and that of others. Comply with health and safety legislation. Carry out work in accordance with relevant training, instructions, or procedures. Inform line manager of health and safety issues. Use safety equipment properly. All staff to comply with Drugs and Alcohol policy RG-GEN 023. People:Collaborate with team members and other departments. Key job requirements:Good knowledge of freight train operations and railway geography. Excellent planning skills, capable of producing compliant diagrams. Logical and analytical problem-solving skills. Highly developed numeracy skills. Good computer skills, including NROL, TOPS/TRUST, Word, Excel, Outlook.
