Job DescriptionProactively manage the workload, assisting with other tasks as required. Maintain good laboratory practices and aseptic techniques, reporting issues to the Team Leader or Section Manager. Develop in-depth knowledge of specific methods, assist in method development, and carry out validation work as needed. Assist in training and guiding staff where applicable. Perform routine and non-routine maintenance of laboratory equipment. Contribute to problem-solving activities. Conduct Salmonella testing from start to finish, including confirmation of positive results. Perform confirmation tests for other bacteria. Communicate professionally with co-workers regarding discrepancies or queries, ensuring timely email responses. Sort samples and verify paperwork accuracy. Report all samples correctly into the LIMS system. Prepare dry culture media following SOPs. Follow all Standard Operating Procedures diligently. Maintain a positive image by keeping equipment and PPE clean. Handle equipment responsibly and report any damages promptly. Work collaboratively as part of a team, supporting colleagues to maintain morale. Prioritize safety, reporting accidents and near misses immediately. Assist in onboarding new employees, providing friendly and engaging support. Use instrumentation such as balances, incubators, autoclaves, preparators, dilumats, and pipettes after training. Complete required training to become a Fire Marshal, First Aider, or Internal Auditor. Adhere to Cawood’s policies and procedures, maintaining safe and effective work standards. Review and optimize work practices continually. Share best practices and suggest improvements. Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high-quality standards.
