You will work as part of a small team to improve early communication outcomes for children and families in Edmonton, delivering high-quality universal and targeted health services to meet key priorities. The role involves working within community settings and family homes. Key ResponsibilitiesSupporting health promotion planning and delivery Conducting communication assessments Engaging in multi-agency collaboration to support children and families Supporting training delivery Intervening with families and children through play, interaction, and communication development Essential Skills and QualitiesExcellent communication skills Passion for public health Good organizational skills Flexibility and ability to travel independently Interest in speech, language, and communication development Main Tasks and ResponsibilitiesUndertaking home visits as delegated by Health Visitors/Speech and Language Therapists Supporting early prevention and intervention for children aged 0-2 at risk of SLCN Assisting with training early years professionals on referral processes Organizing and running targeted language and communication groups Facilitating access to Children Centre and community services Promoting early speech and language development Providing information about referral pathways to therapy services Adapting approaches to individual circumstances Communication and CollaborationGathering sensitive information empathetically Working closely with parents, professionals, and community groups Supporting training sessions and overcoming communication barriers Safeguarding children and adhering to policies Additional DutiesMaintaining accurate records and documentation Participating in research, audits, and service development Engaging in personal development and mandatory training Maintaining equipment and adhering to health and safety policies Working ConditionsPhysical effort involved in home visits Mental concentration for assessments Occasional exposure to distressing situations Flexible work across various community settings This Job Description is subject to periodic review.
