Systems Engineer (PLC / SCADA) Location: Norwich Salary: Up to £55,000 + Car / Car Allowance / Van + Overtime Contract Type: Full Time Sector: Water, Infrastructure, AutomationThe Role:J3A Recruitment is working with a leading specialist in MEICA and automation solutions to find a Systems Engineer with solid experience in PLC and SCADA software development. You’ll be designing, constructing, and testing control systems for a variety of projects — from water and wastewater treatment to automation-heavy industrial builds.This is a hands-on, delivery-focused role with site involvement and real ownership over your work — ideal for someone who’s confident with both the coding and commissioning side of things.Key Responsibilities:Design and write PLC, HMI, and SCADA software from functional specsCreate project documentation including FDS, test plans, and I/O listsWork with systems like Allen Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Wonderware, RockwellTest, proof, and document code to high standardsUnderstand and work from electrical schematics and P&IDsConduct site-based commissioning, upgrades, and repairsAnalyse and modify legacy code where neededCommunicate effectively with internal teams and clientsPlay a key role in ongoing process improvement and system optimisationWhat We’re Looking For:Experience writing PLC code in an engineering or customer-facing environmentSolid understanding of SCADA systems and industrial automationFamiliarity with electrical systems and mechanical integrationProficient with Microsoft Office and technical documentationExperience in sectors such as Water, Wastewater, Food & Beverage, or AutomotiveKnowledge of FDS/Test Plans and control logic designCommercial awareness and H&S understandingStrong interpersonal and communication skillsWhat’s On Offer:Up to £55,000 basic salaryChoice of car, car allowance, or vanPaid overtimeFlexible/Agile working availableCareer progression through tailored development pathwaysPrivate healthcare optionsPension schemeMental and physical wellbeing support through structured programmesDiscounts on lifestyle, tech, and travelLong-term career stability with a company delivering key UK infrastructure
