Project Manager, field and office based Location: Chelmsford, Grays and surrounding areas Salary: Competitive Contract Type: Permanent Working Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday _________________________________________________________________________ What you’ll do: We are expanding our team and looking for a field-based Project Manager to support the Contract Delivery Manager in the Arb Utility division at Ground Control. This team trims trees to safe limits around power lines and pylons. You will manage the operation for an assigned programme of tree works across Essex and surrounding areas, driving programme delivery to meet both self and contract KPI targets, as well as overseeing our tree cutting teams. This is a field-based role with approximately 3 days in the field and 2 days based at home, subject to weekly requirements. A driving licence is essential, as you will be driving to rural locations regularly. Key Responsibilities: You will ensure work is completed to high standards in safety, environment, quality, customer service, and profitability. Promote consistency and innovation to ensure Ground Control remains a leader in our field. What you will achieve: Manage outputs and performance within your projects, measured against safety, quality, production, budget, timelines, and client satisfaction. Maintain efficient communication with your office-based Project Coordinator and ensure timely processing of projects for smooth delivery. Provide timely and effective reporting to your Contract Delivery Manager. Ensure your assigned tree cutting teams have a suitable work bank and are fully utilized across the contract. Update and manage the Work Programme, SD Programme, Held Up Programme, planning checklists, and related documents for your projects and teams. Resolve Held-Up spans requiring client consent to proceed. What we're looking for: This role suits someone with basic field-based project management experience, possibly within the arb industry, surveying, or operational roles. We are also interested in candidates from related fields who enjoy managing their workload independently and are seeking a career change. Experience in tree work or horticulture, either practically or from a project management perspective, is a plus but not essential. To succeed, you must have: Strong negotiation and influencing skills. Proficiency in IT. Well-developed team management and organizational skills. Ability to prioritize and balance multiple demands to meet stakeholder needs. Excellent customer service skills.
