Site Reliability/DevOps/Platform Engineer, Managed OperationsAWS is set to introduce the inaugural European Sovereign Cloud (ESC), marking a significant development in Utility Computing (UC). To spearhead this initiative, we are actively seeking experienced systems engineers with a strong background in cloud operations. As part of the AWS Managed Operations team, you will play a pivotal role in building and leading operations and development teams dedicated to delivering high-availability AWS services, including EC2, S3, Dynamo, Lambda, and Bedrock, exclusively for EU customers. Your responsibilities will encompass overseeing the launch of the ESC in 2025, working closely with global AWS teams, and influencing the evolution of AWS services and technology. A typical day involves collaborating with technology leaders, contributing to the enhancement of day-to-day operations, and ensuring improvements in availability, reliability, latency, performance, and efficiency of the ESC. The overarching goal is to deliver scalable services and ensure a high-availability experience for EU customers. European Sovereign Cloud (ESC) is a part of AWS Utility Computing (UC), which provides product innovations from foundational services like Amazon S3 and EC2 to new industry-leading features. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, IoT, Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS. Managed Operations engineers engage with AWS customers requiring specialized security solutions for their cloud services. A day in the lifeYou’ll spend most of your time operating and improving one of the largest software systems. Weekly activities include reviewing operational health, diagnosing anomalies, writing actionable bug reports, executing change management processes, resolving operational issues, and creating scripts to improve troubleshooting efficiency. You will occasionally participate in an “on-call” rotation to resolve incidents outside of regular hours. Minimum qualificationsAbility to troubleshoot at all levels, including network, OS, and software applications, with experience supporting cloud systems Familiarity with Linux and basic network administration Knowledge of programming languages such as Java, Typescript, Python, or Ruby Experience working cross-organizationally and leading strategic efforts Experience with performance tuning and fleet optimization Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., CDK, CloudFormation, Puppet, Chef, Ansible) Amazon is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and privacy.
