The post holder works with all adult inpatient services to support the identification and placement of patients appropriately and timely, following agreed protocols and procedures. The post holder is expected to work with minimal supervision, coordinating activities with team members to ensure an efficient service. They will also work independently at times, contributing positively to the organisation of work and helping maximise bed management effectiveness. Understand the Emergency Department (ED) Clinical Quality Indicators, including 4-hour and 12-hour targets, and support teams to achieve these. Support proactive bed allocation, prioritising patient safety. Record and collate daily data on patient flow and performance to maintain accurate internal and external records. Interpret and communicate information clearly, respond to changing priorities, and develop systems for improved effectiveness. Keep the nurse in charge, managers, and Clinical Site Manager informed of pressures within ED/MAU/SAU/MINORS and review requirements. Support patient movement across the organisation to ensure good care and performance standards. Coordinate workload of the Transfer Team to meet national targets. Maintain real-time bed status information to ensure optimal patient experience. Communicate updated handovers regarding site capacity and issues to night teams. Ensure effective communication with external agencies like PTS, IDT, and private ambulance services. Manage medical bed capacity daily from 15:00 to 19:30, including weekends and bank holidays. Use initiative to record and seek information proactively within the role's scope. Prioritise and multitask effectively. Collaborate across organisational groups.
