About Your New Role Our Casualty team provides a full, expert service in defending public (PL) and employers' liability (EL) claims, across the private and public sectors. Weightmans' team is renowned for defendant litigation services in these and other specialist Casualty areas. We operate nationally with dedicated teams for commercial insurance and the public sector, including a Casualty Fraud team. We are currently recruiting a Paralegal to join our Casualty Fraud Team, based in Liverpool or Manchester. The team handles instructions from insureds and insurers, with a fraud identification system supporting a wide range of cases involving commercial, public sector, and insurance clients nationwide.Role Responsibilities:Assist fee earners with case management, legal research, drafting witness statements, reports, and court preparation.Attend client meetings and court hearings to support fee earners.Assist with instructing Counsel and experts.Respond to correspondence and inquiries from clients and others, with or without supervision.Review records and support business development activities.Handle predominantly PI claims including EL, PL, Highways, Housing disrepair, and Property damage.Complete MI procedures as required, meet financial and chargeable targets, and adhere to deadlines, SLAs, quality measures, and KPIs.Ensure compliance with policies and procedures.This list is not exhaustive; other duties within the role's wider remit may be assigned. As a Paralegal, you will also ensure compliance with Weightmans and client policies, working in line with our values.About You You should have previous Paralegal experience and a genuine interest in the work described. Flexibility and adaptability are important. Specific requirements include:Experience assisting with EL/PL casualty claims is essential.Experience with defendant EL/PL fraud claims is desirable.Interest in claims validation and fraud.Knowledge of PL, EL, Highways, and Housing Law.Experience managing your own casualty caseload.Strong drafting, influencing, communication, and interpersonal skills.Proficiency in IT, good organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask and meet deadlines.Knowledge of CPR procedures with proven technical ability.Why Work for Us Weightmans is a Top 40 UK law firm, recognized as a leading legal employer and awarded for excellence.
