The Arts at Amherst Initiative Coordinator is a part-time, casual position with no benefits, starting at $24/hour. Given Amherst's distinction as one of the most diverse liberal arts colleges in the country, the successful candidate will demonstrate the ways in which they bring value to and will work towards supporting a broadly diverse community.The Arts at Amherst Initiative is a consortium of faculty and staff from the departments of Art and the History of Art, Music, Theater and Dance, and the Mead Art Museum. Their work includes hosting visiting artists, producing arts events, supporting the work of faculty artists, and promoting the arts on campus.The Arts at Amherst Initiative Coordinator supports the work of the Arts at Amherst Initiative by (1) facilitating communication among a diverse group of participants in the Initiative; (2) producing Initiative events; (3) developing publicity and coordinating public outreach for the Initiative programming; and (4) hosting guests in the Bailey Brown House, the Initiative's residence for visiting artists. The Coordinator takes appropriate actions to support a diverse workforce and participates in the College's efforts to create a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming work environment.The Coordinator is a one-year, part-time position, ideally suited for a recent graduate who is passionate about the arts, and who seeks practical experience in communications, projects organization and administration.
