Job DescriptionJob Description Senior Production Planner Position Summary The Senior Production Planner plays a critical role in ensuring that manufacturing operations run smoothly and efficiently. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining production schedules that align with customer demand and inventory levels. The planner will analyze production capacity, lead times, and resource availability to optimize workflow and minimize downtime. By collaborating with various departments, including procurement, engineering, and quality assurance, the Sr. Production Planner will ensure that all production goals are met while adhering to safety and quality standards. Ultimately, this role is essential for driving operational excellence and contributing to the overall success of the manufacturing process. Principle Responsibilities Develop and maintain detailed production schedules based on customer orders and inventory levels. Analyze production capacity and resource availability to optimize manufacturing processes. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address production issues and implement solutions. Monitor production performance metrics and adjust schedules as necessary to meet targets. Prepare reports and forecasts to communicate production plans and outcomes to management. Maintain planning parameters and data integrity in the ERP/MRP system (e.g., routings, BOMs, lead times, lot sizes). Maintain appropriate inventory levels to meet and exceed inventory targets and turns; as well as seek opportunities to reduce inventory through various techniques such as lot size optimization, off-the-shelf vs. MTO analysis, Kanban, etc. Create a production plan, understand level loading, capacity planning, sequential and concurrent scheduling to maximize production efficiency by minimizing change overs, down time, and over time. Lead production planning meetings and communicate when a gap exists between demand vs. capacity. Drive root cause for missed shipments and help to implement corrective actions to ensure Customer fill rate targets are achieved and sustained. Proactively identify potential shortages against scheduled production orders and work with appropriate Qualification Requirements Credentials/Experience: BS degree in Business Administration, Engineering or Supply Chain 5+ years of experience within Planning and Procurement Must have experience with any modern ERP Systems and data analysis tools Production scheduling to manage open orders and driving the production planning process Must be well versed in MRP/MPS systems APICS or CPM certification a plus or equivalent. Experience/Educational/Training: Six sigma certifications . Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Advanced knowledge of Material Requirement Planning (MRP) Advanced Microsoft skills, particularly MS Excel, Pivot tables and ability to download and manipulate data quickly and easily using advanced functions Ability to apply LEAN concepts and good understanding of Pull systems Excellent communication and follow-up skills Advance Capacity Planning Able to communicate at all levels of the organization Other Requirements Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
