About The Role Working Hours:35 Hours per weekContract Type: 2 x Full-Time, Permanent Additional Payments:Casual Car User Allowance Closing Date:14 May 2025 Closing time:11.59pm Interview Method:In Person (Face to Face) This role is subject to - 2 References- where possible we require 3 years' employment history. Qualification- • ONC or HNC in a Highway or Civil Engineering discipline or equivalent qualification, or relevant experience within Highway Construction and Maintenance. • Recognised CAD qualification (or working towards / willingness to undertake). Casual Car Documentation- The successful candidate will be a designated Casual Car User which means that car journeys may be necessary on an occasional basis, but are not essential to the role. If you do drive, you must always hold a full valid driving licence and provide your own car for use at work, as well as provide all the appropriate documentation. You will receive an allowance per mile of business use. The Highways Planned Maintenance Team is responsible for the design, programming and delivery of the MCC’s planned maintenance of carriageways and footways. Typically, the annual budget is circa £14m with works spread over around 450 sites. The works comprise a mixture of reconstruction, resurfacing and preventative treatments and candidates for the available posts will need extensive and detailed knowledge of the materials, site works and techniques associated with all these processes. Reporting to the Engineers, Site Technicians need extensive knowledge and experience of highway maintenance and are required who have the ability to carry out the following activities: Assessment of sites for inclusion in future programmes. Daily supervision of contractors engaged on the Highway Planned Maintenance Programmes to ensure that they are carried out in a safe manner and to the required quality. Dealing with any day to day site issues that may occur. Investigating complaints that may arise as a result of the works . Maintaining of site records and keeping Engineers informed regarding progress and any issues arising. Inspection of works and identification of remedial works About the Candidate You will demonstrates strong communication skills and an understanding of the views of others and respond to issues arising.Strong analytical skills are required. You must show that you are able to absorb and understand moderately complex information and compare information from a number of different sources.You will have excellent planning and organising skills showing the ability to organise multiple tasks allocating time according to the complexity of the tasks, prioritising in order to meet deadlines.It is key that you are able to show strong problem solving and decision making skills. Demonstrating sound judgement when escalating issues where necessary. We are looking for someone who shows logical thinking and the ability to explain reasoning behind decisions made or actions taken.
