Job Description

Job Overview Join Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust, where we offer a variety of challenging and rewarding roles within a supportive, innovative, and dynamic work environment! We currently have vacancies for experienced Healthcare Support Workers to join our expanding team on Griffin Ward, a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) based at the Herschel Prins Centre. The role of the Healthcare Support Worker (HCA) involves working as part of the nursing team to support individuals through their recovery, addressing both their physical health and mental health needs. We seek candidates experienced in working with people with mental health issues, who are compassionate, caring, and confident in managing difficult situations. Psychiatric Intensive Care Units (PICUs) are specialized wards providing inpatient mental health care, assessment, and comprehensive treatment for individuals experiencing the most acute phases of serious mental disorders, including risks of self-harm, absconding, or suicide. Griffin Ward is a 6-bed female-only psychiatric intensive care unit with a higher staff-to-patient ratio than most wards. We prioritize the health and wellbeing of our team members, offering a robust induction, regular supervision, and support. There are opportunities for career progression through structured learning pathways aligned with your long-term goals and strengths. For inquiries, please contact Jessica Hall via email: jessica.hall32@ Job Description Summary (Main duties and responsibilities) Important information about these roles These Healthcare Support Worker roles operate on a rota system of Long Days (11.5-hour shifts), including day and night shifts, covering a 7-day week. These are predominantly full-time roles (37.5 hours per week). Part-time options are available upon discussion. You must be eligible to work in the UK for at least 23 hours per week. We do not offer sponsorship for HCA roles; applicants must have the right to work in the UK already. These roles are permanent, not bank positions. Candidates need their own right to work in the UK, as sponsorship is not provided. Applicants should demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, problem-solving abilities, negotiation skills, and the capacity to enforce boundaries. We believe in developing leadership qualities; if you can demonstrate leadership, there will be opportunities to nurture and develop these skills. We offer a rewarding environment that provides a sense of achievement as patients progress through recovery. The role offers variety, creativity, and collaborative delivery of high-quality care. We seek individuals who share our values of Trust, Respect, Integrity, and Compassion, which are central to patient care.
