An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead the Clinical Coding team at QVH. Clinical coding plays a crucial role in the management of the Trust as it directly influences income and forms the basis for clinical audit, clinical governance reporting, benchmarking, clinical performance indicators, information governance and medical research. The post holder will ensure that the clinical coding department runs effectively and undertake long-term planning, objective setting and the deliver of performance reviews, training, development and clinical audit in conjunction with the Head of Business Intelligence and Clinical Systems. Main duties of the jobLine manage a team of clinical coders ensuring appropriate resource allocation on a daily basis. Provide development support for clinical coders through regular appraisal and personal development plans with targeted training and mentoring where appropriate. Ensure coding deadlines are met. Maintain high levels of accuracy and completeness in clinical coding assured by audit. Ensure that all mandated national standards and development are implemented in a timely manner. Detailed job description and main responsibilitiesEnsure adequate cover is in place; managing sickness, annual leave, training and other absence. Represent the clinical coding department in meetings, providing specialist advice and support. Organise team meetings and take an active part in general departmental meetings to ensure knowledge and learning is widely communicated. Ensure appropriate and effective planning, communication and management of clinical coding projects which cross business units. Develop a culture of continuous improvement and service development. Regularly review and, if necessary, revise the department's working practices to take account of the department, Trust and NHS mandatory requirements. Deal with complicated queries. Ensure timely and accurate coding completion to satisfy the needs of contracting and commissioning targets. Work with auditors in delivering feedback from audit results, reviewing personal development plans for the team.
