As akey member of our 111 teaminDorking , you’ll be doing just that. This is your chance to train to be aHealth Advisorin our111 call centre , handling calls from members of the public. You’ll learn how to use a state-of-the-art triage tool called NHSPathwaysto assess patients over the phone and direct them to the most appropriate care. Although these are not emergency calls, you’ll also need to be prepared to deal with emotional, distressing, or life-threatening scenarios and to arrange for 999 services if required. We offer enhanced pay rates for weekends. Currently, we can only offer 24 hours per week to cover our core shifts over the weekend, mornings, and evenings — to assist patients when they most need us. The extensive training equips you with valuable skills and includes assessments. We are offeringfully paid training courses on a full-time basis ,Monday-Friday (9am-5pm) for 4 weeks . We also offer part-time courses runningTuesday, Wednesday, Thursday evenings (6pm-9:30pm)andSaturday-Sunday (9am-5pm)for 6 weeks. You must attend every training day. This is followed by a further eight weeks of support before you are signed off to work on your own. Upcoming available start dates are: Monday 19th May 2025 - Full Time Monday 23rd June 2025 - Full Time Once you’ve completed your training, you can join the teampart-time (or full-time as explained above)on your pre-approved shift pattern. However, please note that this is a24/7, 365-days-a-yearservice and is particularlybusy at weekends , so you should expect to work at these times, plus some bank holidays, which may include Christmas. As part of 111, you will be the first point of contact for members of the public with a 24-hour urgent but non-emergency health concern, providing advice and signposting assistance to onward care utilizing the NHS Pathways triage system. Your responsibilities will include: Managing calls from patients and healthcare professionals Using computer systems to capture patient information Communicating effectively in a healthcare environment with colleagues and callers Providing advice and support on accessing local services such as general practice, dentists, pharmacies, and other healthcare services Transferring calls to our clinical assessment services, which are on hand 24/7 to provide expert advice, assessment, and support Supporting patients with medication queries, with immediate support from a pharmacist Dealing with distressing and emergency situations What you will get: £12.21 per hour – daytime and during training (07:00-23:00) £15.18 per hour – contractual night rate (23:00-24:00) £15.71 per hour – additional pay enhancements when working between 18:00 Friday and midnight, and on Saturday or Sunday.
