The Opportunity: Avantor Services offers a wide range of on-site Laboratory and Materials Management Services for major pharmaceutical clients. We collaborate closely with our clients to provide resources that support core scientific activities. The Anne McLaren Building (AMB) seeks a dedicated Laboratory Technician to support its research program. This multi-disciplinary role involves supporting daily laboratory operations. The Laboratory Technician will assist scientists across R&D functions within AstraZeneca & Cancer Research UK, enabling them to focus on their core tasks. The role is primarily lab-based, providing scientific technical support in compliance with Health and Safety and Good Laboratory Standards. Driving FM Service DeliveryEnsure activities meet quality standards and schedules, reporting deviations. Enhance operational efficiency by liaising with FM suppliers and stakeholders, including AstraZeneca and Cambridge University staff. Assist with booking, hosting, and managing visits from internal and external partners, including inspections and audits. Serve as a key contact for customers. Optimize shared space use and maintain Business As Usual (BAU) operations amid changing footprints. Identify operational efficiencies through process improvements to save time and costs. Create and update documentation supporting service delivery, compliance, and training. Report on KPIs, metrics, SLAs, and weekly tasks. Lab SupportProvide operational laboratory support, managing workload and service levels. Perform preventative maintenance, cleaning, and documentation of laboratory instruments. Conduct specialist equipment checks (e.g., balances, pH meters). Manage Tube Labelling Services and inventories of consumables and reagents. Maintain cleanliness of communal areas. Handle temperature-sensitive parcel deliveries and manage pipette calibration shipments. Assist with study preparations. Health & Safety ComplianceFollow SHE regulations, PPE policies, and work instructions. Support Laboratory Manager in maintaining a safe environment and reporting incidents. Complete training activities proactively. Skills, Knowledge & CompetenciesExcellent customer service and collaboration skills. Clear communication skills. Problem-solving and prompt reaction capabilities. Strong planning, organizational, and analytical skills. Effective time management, flexibility, and multitasking. Ability to work independently and in teams. Basic IT skills; advanced Excel preferred. Laboratory experience; scientific qualification or experience preferred. Knowledge of SHE and GLP regulations.
