A Fleet Auto Maintenance Technician II is responsible for performing inspections, preventative maintenance, light repairs, and diagnostics, focusing on exceptional customer satisfaction in a cost-effective manner. They can perform more advanced repairs under supervision and continue to develop their mechanical skills and diagnostics, working independently or as part of a team. The technician complies with company policies and strives for high performance metrics.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Follow all safety practices and procedures, remaining up-to-date. Determine and order parts required for each job. Diagnose, adjust, and repair various equipment including electrical, brake, cooling, and engine systems. Maintain a clean and safe work environment, assisting with cleanup as needed. Install, troubleshoot, and repair aftermarket equipment in vehicles. Perform maintenance and repairs on different classes of vehicles, including complex hydraulic, electrical, hybrid, and battery systems. Apply knowledge from training and experience to perform work; evaluate technical information. Communicate effectively with clients and team members to assess needs and resolve issues. Manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively. Assist colleagues with diagnosis and repairs. Act with integrity, maintain confidentiality, and adhere to ethical standards. Perform scheduled maintenance, DOT inspections, and diagnostics in a shop environment. Perform repairs including OBDII systems, brakes, tires, suspension, electrical, and aftermarket components. Conduct routine maintenance like oil changes and battery checks. Use hand tools, diagnostic tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks. Document work and upload pictures and findings using company devices. Complete forms accurately and promptly. Maintain productivity and work within organizational standards. Obtain parts from approved vendors. Communicate with Shop Leader for approvals, purchase orders, and notes. Ensure all work complies with safety, health, environmental policies, and regulations such as OSHA, EPA, ANSI, and DOT. Complete all required safety training and adhere to policies and procedures. Required Qualifications:High School Diploma/GED with 3 years’ experience or equivalent combination; or 5 years’ related experience. Valid driver’s license and safe driving record. Experience:At least 3 years as an automotive technician on various vehicle types or equivalent education/experience. Knowledge of vehicle engines, parts, systems, and maintenance. Ability to obtain a DOT Medical Card if not already held. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:Logical reasoning for troubleshooting and problem-solving. Ability to select appropriate tools and understand vehicle systems. Commitment to ongoing training on technology and OEM standards. Understanding of DOT and CDL requirements. Physical ability to perform labor-intensive tasks, lift up to 75 pounds, and work safely in a fast-paced environment. Effective communication skills and attention to detail. Preferred Qualifications:OEM certifications, ASE certifications (preferably 4 within 18 months). Customer service experience, transmission, diesel, or electric vehicle expertise. Other:Valid driver’s license, ability to obtain Class A/B license if needed. Background check and drug screening required. Own a set of necessary hand tools. Must be 21 or older.
