JOB DESCRIPTION Cambridgeshire & PeterboroughSchool-Aged Health Improvement and Prevention Service, Sexual HealthResponse Nurse (Bank) MAIN PURPOSE The School-Aged Health Improvement and Prevention Service (SHIPS) will support the improvement in sexual health outcomes for children and young people (C&YP) across Cambridgeshire & Peterborough. The post holder will be responsible for following up with Children and Young People who have had a positive STI test result, as well as supporting delivery as needed of the: Local C-card scheme (13-24 year olds), across Cambridgeshire & Peterborough. Education and preventative sexual health services, including targeted interventions. SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Increase accessibility of routine (asymptomatic) chlamydia and gonorrhoea screening and signposting to treatment for C&YP, 13-24 year olds. This will be achieved through the promotion and provision of testing kits and will target young women as they are more likely to present asymptomatically. Work with labs to process testing kits and ensure accurate and sensitive confirmation of test result. Ensure robust test-kit processing and notification processes for both the young person/adult, partner notifications, and rapid access to locally agreed treatment pathways. Coordinate and participate in national sexual health and HIV campaigns in collaboration with other partners and the integrated sexual health services. Deliver sexual and reproductive health sessions in schools, colleges, universities, youth settings. Deliver sexual health outreach services for young people from high-risk groups to be delivered in non-traditional settings e.g. Looked after children, young people criminal justice system within the 25% most deprived wards across Cambridgeshire & Peterborough by middle super output areas (MSOA). Use clinical systems, to manage data for accurate record keeping - Keep accurate records and written reports and ensure patient contact data is recorded in accordance with Everyone Health and Commissioner Policies, to ensure compliance with Information Governance GDPR and Data Protection in relation to client and patient information Utilise a range of communication and presentation methods Be compliant with all policies, procedures and guidelines, including the appropriate code(s) of conduct associated with this post; maintain awareness of safeguarding issues, report and acting on concerns in accordance with Everyone Health and Local Authority policies and procedures. Take responsibility for own CPD and participate in Everyone Health’s induction, training and continual professional development as required; recognise and work within own competence and professional code of conduct Ensure that commitment to equality and diversity is reflected at all stages of project planning, delivery, and evaluation, in line with agreed service standards Understand and adhere to strict confidentiality and safeguarding protocols. Support the development of a comprehensive directory of up to date evidence based information, for school settings to use as activities. KNOWLEDGE Good knowledge of sexual health, impact of STI testing and positive tests in particular. Knowledge and understanding of other relevant health and wellbeing support services in the community to facilitate signposting opportunities. Computer literate and able to use databases, social media and mobile technologies. Knowledge and understanding of Child Protection and Confidentiality Sound knowledge and understanding of the Data Protection Act and Information Governance. Sound knowledge of challenges to achieving health improvement amongst vulnerable and deprived communities. Sound knowledge of public health interventions. Knowledge and understanding of the Patient Confidentiality Act, Safeguarding and the Data Protection Act. Sound knowledge of application of behavioural change theoretical principles, to facilitate, motivate and empower individuals / local communities to make substantive and sustainable behaviour change. Have undertaken relevant GDPR training where appropriate and are aware of the correct processes to escalate any concerns. 3. EXPERIENCE Experience of working with patients to deliver health improvement and clinical information. Experience of training and delivery of courses. Experience of developing effective relationships with key stakeholders. Experience of working in a multi-cultural setting with patients of different cultures, genders and ages. Experience of working to time schedules and deadlines. 4. QUALIFICATIONS Essential:RN, registered with NMC. 5. SPECIAL CONDITIONS Highly motivated self-starter with resilience, determination, and the ability to see jobs through to completion. Role incorporates evening / weekend working, with variable levels of travel across Cambridgeshire & Peterborough working in a variety of settings, including virtually by phone or online. Full UK Driving licence and access to a car for work- with ‘business purposes’ insurance. Evidence of a personal commitment to continuing professional development and to maintaining an up-to-date professional knowledge supporting the development of business within the company. This post involves working with vulnerable adults and as such the post holder will be required to apply for a disclosure of criminal records at an enhanced level (DBS). 6.
